Changan Aims to Enter 10 European Markets by Late 2025

On June 7, 2025, the Chongqing International Auto Exhibition showcased new automotive technologies and concepts, attracting a significant number of notable European media representatives. These attendees were eager to witness how Changan Automobile, a major player in the Chinese automotive industry, is preparing for competitive entry into the European market. The exhibition featured a first-hand look at Changan's latest model offerings and insights into the company's operational strategy.

Among the highlights were the cutting-edge assembly processes at the Intelligent Digital Factory of Changan. European influencers and automotive journalists, including Polish influencer Grzegorz Konieczny and Italian vlogger Michele Ponte, were particularly impressed by the high automation level of the production line, describing the factory as a blueprint for efficiency. During a scheduled test drive, they praised the comfort of Changan’s vehicles, suggesting that larger models would resonate well with American consumers, thus hinting at Changan's broader target market beyond Europe.

Throughout the exhibition, attendees were given various opportunities to engage with the company's executives. Zhu Huarong, the chairman of Changan, emphasized the company's respect for the European market, highlighting that many excellent brands are benchmarks for their growth. During a face-to-face discussion, he affirmed that Europe is currently viewed as a critical market for Changan's expansion plan. Zhu introduced a three-fold strategy aimed at accelerating market entry by 2025, featuring both product innovation and market penetration objectives.

Changan plans to focus on select products while launching significant models such as the CHANGAN DEEPAL S07 and S05, with initial operations beginning in Norway and strategic placement in other essential European markets. By the end of 2025, Changan aims to establish nearly 200 dealerships across ten countries.

Li Mingcai, one of the executive vice presidents, noted that Changan isn’t solely concentrating on electric vehicles. The firm is also developing hybrid technologies to cater to varied consumer demands across Europe. He confirmed that these models are set to enter the European market in the third quarter of 2025, showcasing a commitment to addressing contemporary expectations.

European media representatives displayed cautious optimism towards Changan's initiatives. German journalist Walther Wuttke suggested that having a strong dealer network would be essential for success, while praising the vehicles' design and build quality. Greek importer Aggelos Stefanopoulos referred to Chinese electric vehicles, including Changan's, as revolutionary products that meet modern standards of comfort and align with European preferences.

Michael Georgiadis, CEO of GOCAR.gr and GOCAR Magazine, reiterated the significance of design, advanced technology, and pricing strategies contributing to Changan's prospective success. He underscored that European consumers are ready to embrace innovations from Chinese automakers, which boosts consumer confidence in the products.

As Changan embarks on this ambitious European journey, the positive feedback from European media could serve as a foundation for building trust and brand recognition in a challenging automotive landscape.
