The ongoing challenge to fill open positions within the industry due to various economic factors and the evolving nature of work necessitates a fresh perspective on workforce development. As Michelle Korsmo, President and CEO of the National Restaurant Association, stated, the HOPES and Restaurant Ready programs focus on community engagement, ensuring that the career paths they create are accessible to all, including justice-involved individuals, opportunity youth, and those with disabilities.

Over the course of two days, participants engaged in workshops and discussions centered on the best practices for fostering collaborative efforts in workforce development. HOPES, for instance, offers skill-oriented training, mentoring, and job opportunities, and has already significantly impacted the lives of over 1,200 participants across 20 states.

With substantial funding support from the U.S. Department of Labor, the HOPES initiative is expanding to reach even more individuals. The program embodies a community-focused approach, as evidenced by participant testimonials highlighting its hands-on and localized strategy.
