Rising Demand for Foreign IT Talent: Bossjob's June Data Reveals Trends

Rising Demand for Foreign IT Talent

In a recent report released by Yolo Technology, the operator of the global job platform Bossjob, the trends in job registrations for June 2025 have highlighted a significant increase in the demand for foreign IT talent. The data illustrates that approximately 50% of newly registered companies are from the IT sector, indicating a growing reliance on global talent.

IT Sector Dominance in New Registrations

During the month of June, nearly half (49.2%) of the new companies that registered on Bossjob were from the information and communication (IT) industry. This overwhelming majority showcases the fierce competition to acquire digital talent. The trend reflects an urgent need for companies to actively seek out global professionals as a means to address skill shortages locally. Additionally, various specialized fields such as human resources services (11.5%) and consulting (9.8%) also displayed robust registration numbers, reinforcing the significant expansion of global hiring needs across the IT and HR domains.

Job Roles and Opportunities

Among the registered job positions, IT engineer roles accounted for a staggering 63.0%. This reveals a pressing urgency among companies to recruit foreign engineers with expertise in AI, Web3, and digital transformation initiatives. Other sectors also showed promising expansion, with significant roles available in the service industry. Notably, “food service” positions constituted 7.4%, while both “sales management” and “human resources” roles accounted for 5.6% each. This expansion indicates a widening range of opportunities for foreign talent within Japan’s service sector.

Job Seeker Preferences

On the job seeker side, interest was highest in the tourism sector, which captured 17.1% of preferences. The resurgence of inbound tourism has fueled interest in jobs where language skills can be effectively utilized. Following closely were IT roles at 12.2% and service industry positions at 10.4%. This data underscores the diverse range of job aspirations among foreign professionals looking to enter the Japanese market. Conversely, technical occupations such as manufacturing, construction, and maintenance had fewer seekers, suggesting that enhancing matching support for these roles could be a necessary step moving forward.

Expert Insights from Bossjob

Kenichiro Uemura, Country Manager of Bossjob Japan, commented on these findings: “The hiring of foreign talent by Japanese companies is rapidly transitioning from being a strategy employed by a few large corporations to becoming a universal hiring approach across all industries. Especially within the IT field, cross-border skill matching is becoming essential. Bossjob leverages AI-driven scouting functionalities and a global database of over 5 million talents, opening new possibilities for recruitment.”

This data not only illuminates the current trends within Japan’s labor market but also highlights the global shift toward embracing foreign expertise as an integral part of business strategies. The implications of these findings will shape how companies approach workforce solutions moving forward.
