Great Wall Motor Embarks on New Strategic Phase in European Expansion

Great Wall Motor's New European Strategy

On October 14, 2025, Great Wall Motor (GWM) announced new strategic growth plans during its GWM Europe Partner Day event, signaling the conclusion of a significant strategic adjustment phase. This bold initiative reaffirms the company's long-term commitment to the European market, highlighting its robust intentions to expand its product line and market presence in the region.

Beginning in mid-2026, GWM plans to unveil no fewer than seven new models and variations, marking the Haval product line's debut in Europe. These new introductions will primarily consist of SUVs available in various sizes and categories, featuring state-of-the-art 2WD and Hybrid Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive systems (Hi4). Additionally, GWM is set to unveil an innovative family of compact urban passenger cars under the GWM ORA brand.

In terms of powertrains, GWM aims to provide a diverse selection that caters to different customer needs. This range will include competitively priced internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, efficient hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), long-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and completely electric battery electric vehicles (BEV). By offering this variety, GWM seeks to appeal to a wide audience within the European market, catering to varied preferences and environmental considerations.

Furthermore, from mid-2026, GWM intends to broaden its market footprint in Europe significantly. In major countries such as Spain and Italy, the company plans to establish national sales companies, a first for GWM in Europe. In smaller markets, GWM will maintain partnerships with independent importers, ensuring local expertise and tailored service offerings to enhance customer satisfaction. Across all target markets, GWM's strategy includes collaborating with independent dealers and dealer groups established in these regions to facilitate effective vehicle sales and servicing.

During the GWM Europe Partner Day, over a hundred potential partners representing 12 European markets expressed keen interest in GWM's growth strategy and product offerings. Attendees left the event with a renewed sense of confidence in GWM's engineering capabilities and potential business opportunities within the automotive landscape. Parker Shi, President of GWM International, emphasized that fostering transparency, understanding, and trust is essential in forming genuine partnerships. Many attendees formally indicated their intent to join GWM's network for European partners, signing letters of intent that signify a promising collaboration ahead.

GWM's commitment to expanding its European market share is clear, and the company has pledges to provide further information in the coming months. The strategic shift aims not only to introduce innovative vehicles but also to build a lasting presence in European automotive markets. The anticipation surrounding GWM's new models and comprehensive expansion plans sets the stage for an exciting period for the company and its stakeholders in Europe. As GWM gears up for this transformative phase, the automotive industry watches closely to see how the firm will influence the market landscape in the years to come.
