From June 1 to August 31, Fontaine, a wellness brand under Adelan Inc., will be running a campaign across their nationwide stores in Japan, aiming to connect wig recycling with environmental preservation. This initiative, known as the "Fontaine Green Forest Campaign," offers customers an opportunity to contribute to the environment while getting discounts on new wigs.

Customers can bring in unused wigs (including those from other brands) to any participating Fontaine store. For each wig turned in, they will receive a "Green Coupon". This coupon can be used to get discounts on new wig purchases from Fontaine, contributing a portion of the sale to environmental actions taken by the company in collaboration with the limited liability company, Tsubaru no Mori, which promotes environmental communication.

The campaign was founded in 2009 with the idea that collecting unwanted wigs can help in contributing to the Earth’s environment. All collected wigs are properly disposed of at a partnered waste disposal facility and are ultimately repurposed as backfill materials or roadbed materials.

Fund Allocation


The funds gathered through this initiative will support the revival project of the Akamatsu forest at the Shizuoka Prefectural Forest Park, recognized for its biological diversity and natural aesthetics. The park has been under severe threat from pests and natural disasters, such as the Great East Japan Earthquake, leading to a significant decrease in its Akamatsu (Japanese red pine) trees.

This ongoing effort highlights Fontaine's commitment to both beauty and environmental sustainability by promoting recycling and conservation through the sales of wigs. The cooperation with Tsubaru no Mori ensures that the funding is effectively used for reforestation activities.

Through this campaign, funds have previously been used for planting activities in Yamanashi Prefecture, and in areas impacted by the earthquake, such as planting cherry trees to commemorate the tragedy, and restoring pine forests in Shizuoka. With each wig purchase using the green coupon, a portion of the sale proceeds directly supports the Akamatsu forest restoration project.
