Arevon Energy Secures $120 Million Tax Equity for Big Muddy Solar Project in Illinois

Arevon Energy, Inc. has successfully finalized a $120 million tax equity commitment with Wells Fargo, aimed at supporting the completion of its Significant Big Muddy Solar Project located in Jackson County, Illinois. This marks yet another crucial milestone in Arevon's ambitious portfolio of energy projects, which has seen over $5.2 billion in project financing in recent years. The Big Muddy Solar Project, boasting a capacity of 124 megawatts, is positioned to not only deliver clean energy to the surrounding community but also enhance local economic activity.

The agreement follows Arevon's announcement in February, when it secured a $183 million total debt package, further providing a solid financial backing for the solar project as it gears up for commercial operations slated by the end of this year. The strategic partnership with Wells Fargo enables Arevon to leverage tax benefits such as depreciation and investment tax credits associated with the project, making it a financially sound venture while contributing significantly to the local infrastructure and economy.

Construction of the Big Muddy Solar began in 2025 and represents a vital investment in renewable energy. Over 250 local workers participated in its development, showcasing Arevon's commitment to creating job opportunities and supporting the regional workforce. The economic impact extends beyond job creation; as the project approaches operational status, it is expected to generate over $12.6 million in property tax payments, which will support public services such as education and road maintenance in Jackson County.

"The recent financial arrangement with Wells Fargo underscores the strength of our long-standing partnership and Arevon's effectiveness in executing complex financial transactions," commented Denise Tait, Arevon's Chief Investment Officer and Interim Chief Financial Officer. She added that this kind of partnership fosters job creation and boosts local economies while enabling sustainable energy production.

Wells Fargo's Managing Director in Renewable Energy Environmental Finance, Andrew Kho, expressed their enthusiasm regarding the collaboration. He highlighted Wells Fargo's role in facilitating energy projects that enhance local economies in the Midwest while underscoring their commitment to sustainable energy solutions.

The professionals that contributed to this significant financial transaction included advisors from notable law firms such as Latham & Watkins, Husch Blackwell, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, all of whom provided valuable counsel throughout the process.

Arevon continues to expand its footprint in the Midwest, previously announcing the initiation of operations at its 430 MW Kelso Solar Project in Missouri and the 264 MW combined capacity from the Ratts 1 and Heirloom Solar Projects in Indiana. These achievements underscore Arevon's mission to develop and operate renewable energy projects that not only meet the growing energy needs but also strengthen local communities through job creation and tax revenue.

As a key player in the American energy sector, Arevon is dedicated to advancing the nation towards energy independence by investing in domestically produced renewable energy sources. The company currently operates over 6.3 gigawatts of solar and energy storage projects across 18 states and is actively constructing additional capacity. Through prioritizing local economic growth and environmental sustainability, Arevon remains at the forefront of innovation in the renewable energy landscape.
