Changan's Strategic Move into Europe

On June 7, 2025, the Chongqing International Auto Exhibition opened its doors, drawing the attention of European media eager to learn about Changan Automobile's innovative strategies and latest automotive technologies. In attendance were journalists from various European nations, ready to explore the ambitious plans of this leading Chinese automobile manufacturer.

A Close Look at Changan's Capabilities

During their visit, European representatives toured the Intelligent Digital Factory, where Changan's advanced robotics program was on full display. The final assembly workshop featured a remarkably automated production line that impressed all the visitors. Polish influencer Grzegorz Konieczny praised the factory's efficiency, while Italian vlogger Michele Ponte shared his experience test-driving various Changan models. He found the vehicles comfortable and noted the appeal of larger models for the U.S. market, highlighting Changan's global reach.

Changan's cutting-edge technologies were also on exhibit in their global research and development center. Attendees engaged in discussions with Changan's top executives, including Chairman Zhu Huarong, Vice Chairmen Li Mingcai and Wang Xiaofei, and Vice President Klaus Zyciora. The Three-Pronged Strategy Towards 2025

A pivotal part of this expansion includes Changan's three-part strategy set for 2025, focusing on product development and market penetration. Zhu highlighted that the company will adopt a selective product strategy, concentrating on a few high-demand models like the CHANGAN DEEPAL S07 and S05. They plan to initiate their expansion efforts in Norway and aim to establish a presence in ten European countries by the end of 2025, with nearly 200 dealerships.

In conversations with European media, it was affirmed that Changan will diversify its offerings to meet consumer demands across Europe. Beyond fully electric vehicles (BEVs), the company is also developing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to cater to a broader audience. The first models are expected to roll out in Europe by the third quarter of 2025, showcasing Changan's ability to adapt to market needs.

European Reception and Future Outlook

The response from the European press has been cautiously optimistic. German journalist Walther Wuttke emphasized the significance of a robust dealer network and perseverance, while also noting Changan's strong design and build quality.
