WiCyS, a nonprofit organization focused on increasing the number of women in cybersecurity, has launched its 6th Annual Security Training Scholarship Program. According to a recent ISC2 Workforce Study, the global cybersecurity field is experiencing a staggering shortage of professionals, with a demand for 4.8 million skilled workers. The scholarship is open to WiCyS members aged 18 and older who are looking to enter the cybersecurity workforce within the next 18 months. Applications are being accepted until August 30, 2025, and only first-time applicants are eligible. One of the standout features of this year's program is the dedicated track for veterans and military spouses, sponsored by Craig Newmark Philanthropies. The program boasts an impressive 92% career placement rate within 12 months for participants who advance to the final training stage. Alumni have transitioned into roles such as Cloud Security Engineer, SOC Analyst, Incident Responder, and Penetration Tester, often in under a year. For example, alumna Stephani Guimaraes Lima advanced from a Help Desk position to a SOC Analyst Level 1 in just 10 months, crediting the program's mentorship and community support for her rapid success.
