National Grid Employees Make History with First Global Day of Service in Communities Across U.S. and U.K.

In an inspiring display of community engagement, National Grid employees from both the U.S. and U.K. participated in the very first Grid for Good Global Day of Service from September 29 to October 3, 2025. This initiative involved over 1,500 volunteers who took part in more than 70 diverse projects aimed at enhancing local communities.

The volunteer efforts focused on three primary pillars: strengthening neighborhood resilience, facilitating educational programs, and promoting environmental sustainability. Projects varied from beautifying public parks to delivering educational kits to students, showing a heartfelt commitment to making tangible differences where they matter the most.

U.S. Service Highlights


Among the various initiatives across the U.S., notable projects included:

  • - Batavia, NY: Students engaged in skilled trades simulations at GLOW With Your Hands, gaining hands-on experience in electrical work. Additionally, a Career Day was hosted for students at National Grid's Albany facility, linking educational experiences with real-world career opportunities.

  • - North Grafton, MA: Volunteers harvested and packaged hundreds of pounds of fresh produce at the Community Harvest Project, ensuring that local families receive nutritious food while being actively involved in agricultural practices.

  • - Staten Island, NY: Together with the local Chamber of Commerce, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean and beautify the downtown area, collectively improving the environment and public spaces for residents and visitors alike.

  • - Waltham, MA: Care packages were assembled for students in need, demonstrating a commitment to supporting education and local youth.
