Astrid Prado from Star Refrigeration Nominated for 2025 Most Influential Women in Construction
Star Refrigeration proudly announces that Astrid Prado, their Head of Marketing, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Top 100 Most Influential Women in Construction Awards. This prestigious recognition, hosted by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), celebrates women who are pioneering change in the built environment across the UK. The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester.
Astrid's career at Star Refrigeration began in 2005, and since then, she has made significant strides in enhancing the company’s marketing strategy and public engagement. Her passion for sustainable cooling and heating solutions is matched by her commitment to fostering inclusivity within traditionally male-dominated fields. Astrid not only leads marketing initiatives for Star Refrigeration but also champions progressive workplace policies that prioritize flexible working, better parental leave provisions, and equal caregiving responsibilities within the engineering sector.
One of her notable projects is the Little Stars STEM initiative, which teaches engineering concepts to young schoolchildren, particularly aiming to inspire girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As Co-Chair of Women in RACHP (Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Heat Pumps), she actively discusses the various challenges and barriers women encounter in the industry while advocating for practical solutions. Her proactive approach and dedication to gender equality earned her a nomination for the Diversity Impact Award at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards in 2019, celebrating her efforts to bring attention to gender disparities within the sector.
In response to her nomination, Astrid expressed her gratitude, stating, "It’s a privilege to be shortlisted alongside so many outstanding women. The construction and engineering industries have immense potential to shape a more sustainable, inclusive future. I am thrilled to be able to contribute through my work at Star and through initiatives that champion equality and education in the industry. I believe this nomination is a reflection of the values we uphold at Star Refrigeration and the commitment of the Women in RACHP and INWIC teams I work alongside every day.”
Star Refrigeration recognizes the importance of having leaders like Astrid who uphold and advocate for the values of diversity and inclusion within the workplace. The team looks forward to celebrating her achievements at the awards ceremony alongside other nominees.
