Imaginary Introduces Tuition Support Program for Employees in 2025

Imaginary Corporation's New Education Support Initiative

On May 7, 2025, Imaginary Corporation, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, announced the launch of its ‘Education Support Program’ aimed at enabling employees to balance work and study. This initiative is designed to support continuous learning even after entering the workforce, and will provide up to full tuition coverage for Master's and Doctoral programs at Kyushu University.

Program Overview

The Education Support Program will cover the tuition fees of all full-time and contract employees for Kyushu University’s Master’s and PhD programs, with a flexible adjustment of work responsibilities and hours to accommodate academic commitments. The program aims to help employees pursue advanced education while continuing their professional careers. For the initial phase in 2025, Imaginary plans to support four employees, including three Master's students and one PhD candidate.

Tuition Coverage Details

  • - Master’s Program: The program will cover 20% to 100% of the tuition fees, determined by assessing the employee’s tenure, contributions to the company, and the relevance of their employment duties to their academic studies.
  • - PhD Program: For Doctoral studies, Imaginary will fully cover tuition fees. Employees in the Tokyo office enrolling in the professional PhD program will have their workplaces adjusted to a shared research lab at Kyushu University, with the company also bearing travel and accommodation costs.

The Vision Behind the Program

Mr. Kazushi Kamio, CEO of Imaginary Corporation, shared his insights on the inspiration behind this initiative. Drawing from his previous career as a journalist, he recognized a significant gap in the number of individuals with advanced degrees in Japan, especially compared to places like Silicon Valley or Wall Street, where holding a PhD is common.

He believes that work and study can effectively coexist, enhancing each other’s value. As a result, the Education Support Program was established to encourage more young professionals to obtain Master’s and Doctoral degrees, fostering a workforce that integrates learning with work experience.
