Japanese Financial Education Support Organization Invites Teachers for Ambassador Program

Expanding Financial Education in Japan: Call for Teacher Ambassadors

In an effort to promote financial education throughout the nation, the Japanese Financial Education Support Organization (JFE) has announced the initiation of a new recruitment program for teacher ambassadors. Starting from December 26, 2025, until January 31, 2026, the JFE aims to enlist dedicated educators who are passionate about implementing and enhancing financial education within the school environment.

The Role of Teacher Ambassadors

The role of teacher ambassadors is crucial. They will collaborate with the JFE to develop practical classroom activities that incorporate financial education alongside inquiry-based learning. One of their significant tools will be the FES Contest®, an engaging competition that invites middle and high school students to create one-minute educational videos on financial literacy aimed at elementary schoolchildren. This initiative not only fosters creativity among students but also reinforces their understanding of financial concepts by teaching them in an accessible format.

Overview of the FES Contest

The FES Contest® is a key project of the JFE and has rapidly expanded since its inception. In 2025, the contest will host its third edition, featuring regional competitions across ten locations in Japan. With an impressive increase in submissions—from 156 in the first round to an anticipated 897 this year—it has emerged as one of the largest financial education events in the country. The contest serves dual purposes: it educates younger audiences while enhancing the financial literacy of its participants through a structure that encourages them to absorb and convey important information effectively.

Benefits of Becoming a Teacher Ambassador

Joining the Teacher Ambassador program offers a wealth of benefits:
  • - Opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow ambassadors nationwide
  • - Collaboration with JFE board members and certified instructors for events and co-teaching
  • - Building connections with sponsors from the FES Contest for discussions and networking
  • - Gaining exposure for personal teaching practices and achievements through JFE platforms
  • - Contributing to curriculum development and educational material creation
  • - Working closely in a community where education professionals can equally share insights with finance experts

The Importance of Financial Education

Financial education stands as a national priority in Japan’s educational policy framework, transcending traditional subjects to incorporate vital life skills that empower students to make informed financial decisions. However, many educators express challenges such as uncertainty about where to begin, inadequate time allocation for lessons, and a lack of confidence in their own financial knowledge. The JFE addresses these challenges through its ambassador program, granting educators the support they need to integrate financial literacy into their classrooms seamlessly.

Recruitment Criteria

The JFE welcomes applications from current teachers across all educational levels—from elementary to university—who meet certain criteria:
  • - Must be a teacher at a domestic educational institution in Japan, with a vested interest in financial education
  • - Should commit to sharing knowledge and organizing outreach classes in their respective schools
  • - Must be aligned with the principles and mission of the JFE

Starting from December 26, 2025, interested educators can apply online, following necessary approval from their employers. The JFE is keen to hear from those ready to make a meaningful impact on the financial literacy landscape in Japan.

A Future of Informed Decision-Makers

Ultimately, enhancing financial education is about more than imparting knowledge; it seeks to empower students to expand their life choices and opportunities. By equipping learners with the necessary tools and understanding of financial management, we prepare them for the complexities of adult life. As we move forward, the JFE encourages all educators to consider becoming Teacher Ambassadors and to contribute to this critical initiative from the ground level.
