Supporting Everyone in Childcare: Itabashi SukuSuku Week to be Held

Itabashi SukuSuku Week: Supporting Everyone in Childcare

The Itabashi Ward Office in Tokyo is set to host the vibrant Itabashi SukuSuku Week, a special event dedicated to supporting families in their childcare journey. From May 27 to 30, this four-day event will take place at the first-floor event square of the ward office, offering a range of activities and programs for parents and children alike.

Event Highlights

1. Comprehensive Childcare Consultation Corner

During the event, visitors can benefit from expert advice from health nurses, nutritionists, and dental hygienists at the Childcare Consultation Corner. Various hands-on experiences will also be available, allowing parents and guardians to engage directly with the resources provided. These include:
  • - Baby Doll Holding Experience: A fun and informative session where participants can practice holding a baby.
  • - Prenatal Experience: Simulating the experience of being pregnant.
  • - Vegetable Intake Measurement: A practical session measuring children's fruit and vegetable consumption.
  • - Dental Hygiene Seminar: An educational session led by a dental hygienist that will teach attendees the importance of oral care for children.

2. CAP'S Children's Programs

The CAP'S (Children’s Hall) will host dynamic programs that allow children to immerse themselves in the world of storybooks. Activities include:
  • - Interactive Play with Picture Books: Engaging exercises where children can play while also building their literacy skills.
  • - Storytime Sessions: Enthralling readings of children’s literature that aim to foster a love of reading.
  • - Play Corner: A designated area for children to engage in freeplay, ensuring that kids have a safe and fun environment.

3. Central Library Book Start Packs

As part of the event, the Central Library will distribute Book Start Packs free of charge. Each pack includes two specially selected picture books geared towards infants, all packed in a fabric tote bag. Supplies are limited, so early arrival is encouraged to ensure availability.

4. Traveling Children’s Zoo

The highlight of the last day will be a special visit from a children’s zoo, offering a unique opportunity for kids to have a guinea pig holding experience. Fees may apply for this interactive activity. The zoo will be located at the rooftop garden on the 7th floor of the South Annex of the Itabashi Ward Office, providing a beautiful backdrop for this engaging experience. In case of rain, the event will be moved indoors to the elevator hall on the same floor.

5. Oshi Hana Project (Participatory Exhibition)

A permanent exhibit allowing participants to express their sentiments. Families can write down what they love about parenting, their favorite family spots, time-saving childcare tips, and local services they’ve found useful on hydrangea-shaped message stickers. These stickers will then be placed on a large panel, helping create a beautiful blooming display of community insights.

Schedule and Additional Information

The schedule of events may vary by program, so it’s recommended to check the event schedule for exact timings. The Itabashi SukuSuku Week aims to not only be a source of information but also a platform for community bonding, where everyone is encouraged to share their experiences and guidance. The event promises to be an enjoyable occasion filled with learning, fun, and support for all attending families.

By bringing together families, experts, and the community, the Itabashi SukuSuku Week embodies a spirit of shared childcare responsibility and joyous parenting. 🌼

Make the most of this opportunity to connect, learn, and enjoy. We look forward to seeing you there!
