Community Options Welcomes Derek Shive as Regional Director in Central Pennsylvania
Community Options, a prominent nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting those with disabilities, has announced the appointment of Derek Shive as the new Regional Director for Central Pennsylvania. Derek Shive brings to this role over ten years of valuable experience in the disability services field. His leadership skills and innovative approach will play a crucial role in managing operations and enhancing the services provided to individuals with disabilities in the region. Currently, Community Options supports approximately 7,000 individuals across the nation, including around 450 within Pennsylvania.

Previously, Derek held several leadership roles within another disability service provider, contributing significantly to the development of training programs for program managers and enhancing compliance measures. His work, particularly in the York and Lancaster counties, has showcased his ability to lead with integrity and foster collaboration across various departments.
The timing of Shive’s appointment is noteworthy, coinciding with Community Options' status as a Select Tier provider under Pennsylvania’s performance-based contracting initiative.
