Pride Action30: Driving LGBTQ+ Inclusion in 2024
In a continued effort to promote LGBTQ+ inclusion, the project Pride Action30 is making significant strides this year. With
65 companies participating, an increase of over threefold compared to last year’s efforts, this initiative aims to highlight
30 actionable items that businesses and individuals can adopt during
Pride Month.
Launched in collaboration with
Panasonic Connect, Pride Action30 operates under the umbrella of
Pride House Tokyo, a project uniting various organizations, individuals, and businesses to foster an inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community and other minorities. This collective effort aims to create a society where all individuals can comfortably express their identities and find support at their workplaces.
During June, which is designated as
Pride Month, the project encourages participating organizations to promote understanding and support for LGBTQ+ rights through daily actions. The idea is to utilize small, immediate changes that, when adopted broadly, can lead to significant cultural shifts within workplaces.
The project officially commenced with the launch of a newspaper advertisement on June 1, 2025, featuring the 30 suggested actions, which were also shared on a dedicated website to reach a wider audience. The aim is not just to highlight these initiatives but to encourage businesses and the general public to participate actively in promoting LGBTQ+ rights and inclusion.
In its second year, Pride Action30 has seen robust participation from a diverse range of organizations, including
15 paid partners and
48 unpaid partners. This broad coalition reflects a growing recognition among companies of the importance of human rights and inclusivity in the workplace. The participation guide emphasizes, "As a company that values human rights, we encourage your participation,” conveying the message that now is a crucial time for Japan to continue these efforts despite global challenges against LGBTQ+ rights.
The response from businesses has been overwhelmingly positive, indicating a shared commitment to fostering an environment where LGBTQ+ individuals can feel secure and accepted. The collective action taken by businesses is paving the way for a more supportive work environment where everyone can thrive without fear of discrimination. This project reinforces the idea that even minor steps can lead to substantial advancements in creating safe and accepting workplaces for all.
The ideology behind Pride Action30 is based on the belief that if companies vocalize their support for LGBTQ + rights, it can create a ripple effect leading to wider societal acceptance and understanding. This year's participation surge gives a sense of hope that the awareness surrounding human rights issues is expanding, even in the face of challenging social climates.
As the project continues, it’s essential to maintain momentum by engaging with diverse stakeholders and fostering an atmosphere of mutual learning and encouragement. Pride House Tokyo and Panasonic Connect are committed to pushing forward with collaborative efforts that focus on creating sustainable changes for the benefit of society.
