Revitalizing Caregiving Careers: Introducing the 'STEP UP Seminar' by Levwell School
Levwell Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of the 'STEP UP Seminar', aimed at providing a much-needed re-skilling program for caregivers. As Japan grapples with its aging society, the seminar targets both the alleviation of concerns for caregivers and the enhancement of their career development.
Background and Overview of the 'STEP UP Seminar'
Japan's rapidly aging population has led to a pressing need for securing and nurturing caregiving professionals. The provision of high-quality care necessitates a strong grasp of both specialized knowledge and practical skills. However, ongoing staff shortages in the field have resulted in an educational reliance on On-The-Job Training (OJT), limiting systemic learning opportunities for many caregivers.
According to a survey conducted by the Care Worker Stabilization Public Corporation, 35.2% of caregivers expressed uncertainty about their ability to provide appropriate care to clients. Many workers grapple with doubts about their knowledge and skills, such as feeling inadequate despite having sufficient experience or encountering anxiety about new responsibilities. This has fueled a rising demand for re-skilling initiatives that enable these professionals to retrain from foundational levels.
In response to these challenges, Levwell School has rolled out the 'STEP UP Seminar' to support caregivers in overcoming their worries and confidently enhancing their careers. The seminar offers systematic re-learning opportunities centered around practical themes such as mobility techniques, dementia care, and communication skills that caregivers can apply in real-world scenarios.
The inaugural offering will consist of a hands-on practical course specifically focused on caregiving techniques. In prior pilot sessions, all participants rated their satisfaction at the highest level, marking a remarkable 100% satisfaction rate. Building on this positive feedback, the practical course is scheduled for September 28, 2025, at the Shinjuku campus and September 30, 2025, at the Omiya campus.
Levwell School intends to hold regular thematic seminars aimed at raising the specialized knowledge and skills of caregivers, contributing to solving issues within the caregiving sector.
