Discover the Immersive Social Internship
In an innovative move, Borderless Japan is launching a one-day internship titled 'Immersive Social', specifically designed for students graduating in 2027. Set against the backdrop of pressing social issues, this internship aims to foster a hands-on experience that transcends traditional learning. Rather than merely spectating or learning in a classroom, participants will throw themselves into real-world challenges, identifying questions and exploring business as a means to tackle these issues.
About Borderless Japan
Founded in March 2007, Borderless Japan serves as a platform company for social entrepreneurs, expanding efforts to solve urgent social challenges such as poverty, environmental sustainability, education, and the depopulation of rural areas, across 50 projects in 13 countries. By 2024, the company is projected to achieve sales of 10 billion yen. They have received multiple accolades, including the 2019 Good Design Award for Business Models and the 2019 Special Jury Prize for the 'Companies We Want to Value' Award. In October 2023, they announced a new purpose: "SWITCH to HOPE," aimed at transforming societal challenges into collective hopes for a better future.
The Immersive Social Program
This immersive internship is not about simply understanding a corporation or experiencing a job; it’s about being an active participant in social change. The program encourages students to redefine their values through hands-on work, engaging them in finding real-world solutions through the lens of business. Here’s who it’s for:
- - Individuals eager to discover something they are passionate about and willing to devote themselves to.
- - Those who aspire to take on challenges that could change someone’s life.
- - Students who refuse to let social contribution only be a theoretical exercise.
- - Young individuals looking to experience the intense journey from zero to one.
Participants are not just observers but play a substantial role in the day's activities, allowing them to resonate with the realities on the ground and propose actionable solutions. The program seeks to open the minds of students who are genuinely interested in personal growth.

Kohei has worked in human resources and IT ventures and is now dedicated to fostering meaningful challenges for students at Borderless Japan.
- - Chiho Kato: Interested in social business sparked by witnessing poverty during her studies abroad, Chiho joined Borderless Japan in 2014.
