JENESYS Program and ASEAN Student Conference



As part of the JENESYS initiative, a significant conference focusing on "Climate Change and Disaster Prevention," "Education and Digital Technology," and "Startups and International Cooperation" will take place. This event will welcome a total of 84 participants, including seven youths from each of the 11 ASEAN nations alongside seven Japanese university students. The aim is to deepen their understanding of mutual relationships while addressing shared regional challenges through discussions, site visits, and cultural exchanges.

Objectives of the Conference


The ASEAN Student Conference aims to enhance participants' awareness and action towards common issues while recognizing cultural diversity. Attendees will engage in discussions that foster skills and prospects leading to social contribution. Specifically, the conference will be divided into thematic groups, tackling pertinent problems in the Asia region. On the last day, each group will present their action plans developed through collaborative efforts.

Participants from abroad will embark on a journey across local cities before the conference, learning about Japan's approaches to the discussed issues. Opportunities for homestays will allow attendees to delve into Japanese culture fully, while also sharing their experiences and promoting Japan's appeal on platforms like social media.

Group A Itinerary - Focus on Climate Change and Disaster Prevention


  • - Locations: Tokyo and Hiroshima Prefecture
  • - Dates: January 13 - January 20, 2026
  • - Key activities include orientations, visits to the Japan Meteorological Agency, and discussions with Hiroshima city's crisis management office and disaster memorial sites. Homestays in Akitata-town will also foster community engagement.

Group B Itinerary - Focus on Education and Digital Technology


  • - Locations: Tokyo and Mie Prefecture
  • - Dates: January 13 - January 20, 2026
  • - Participants will observe high school data science courses, engage with local governance on educational strategies, and complete their study with hands-on experiences via homestays in the Daiki Town.

Group C Itinerary - Focus on Startups and International Cooperation


  • - Locations: Tokyo and Tochigi Prefecture
  • - Dates: January 13 - January 20, 2026
  • - The schedule involves attending lectures from esteemed professors, exploring Tokyo’s innovation hubs, and participating in local governmental meetings to understand Japan’s startup ecosystem.
