California General Store Enhances Brand Concept with New Coastal Culture Focus

California General Store's New Chapter

In an exciting development for lifestyle enthusiasts and trendsetters alike, California General Store has revamped its brand concept to offer a fresh perspective rooted in the vibrant culture of the U.S. West Coast. This new direction is set to culminate in the grand opening of a new location in Funabashi at the Lalaport Tokyo Bay complex on March 17, 2026. The store will include women's and kids' fashion lines, wellness and sports items, and an array of chic, lifestyle goods tailored for those pursuing an active and healthy way of life.

Originally established as a surf shop in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, California General Store carries the legacy of a brand that embraced the essence of surf culture. After relocating to Kugenuma Beach in September 2021, the brand continued to serve its community by offering surfboards, wetsuits, and a unique selection of genderless, size-inclusive apparel and merchandise.

With a new vision, the store expands from its original clothing line to include fashionable offerings for women and children, as well as wellness and sports collections. By showcasing products from West Coast brands, vintage finds, cosmetics, and art from local artists, the store aims to create a multifaceted representation of Californian culture in various categories. This new store will be integrated with NICE WEATHER, a lifestyle boutique that draws inspiration from Korean aesthetics, fostering a collaborative environment to enjoy diverse perspectives on life and style.

A Welcoming Shopping Experience

Customers can expect a store designed with the spirit of California in mind, featuring an exterior reminiscent of West Coast warehouses and garages, combining white walls with natural wood for a clean and warm aesthetic. Inside, unique display fixtures crafted from surfboards, art pieces, and potted cacti will enhance the Californian vibe.

As part of the opening celebration, the store will host a pop-up event featuring the craft brand, imano furniture, which specializes in upcycled products made from skateboard materials. Workshops and exhibits showcasing their creations will also be part of the festivities, running from March 20 to 22, 2026. This event, along with more details, will be shared through the California General Store's official website and Instagram.

Diverse Product Lineup

The new location promises a broad range of offerings aimed at promoting a healthy and fashionable lifestyle. In addition to existing genderless original apparel, the store will introduce women's and kids' lines alongside wellness and sports items suitable for various activities, from running to daily wear. Alongside local art and lifestyle products, customers can look forward to collaborations featuring surf and skate brands that capture the essence of California living.

Highlighted items include:

  • - Pendleton Shirts: ¥15,400
  • - Authent Pants: ¥27,500
  • - Mickey Mouse Collection Kids T-Shirt: ¥6,050

Furthermore, California General Store will present co-branded items with CIRCLE CIRCLE, a lifestyle brand embracing community well-being through leisure activities like surfing and golf.
