ManpowerGroup Joins 'IKUKYU Project' for Four Consecutive Years to Support Paternity Leave

ManpowerGroup's Commitment to Paternity Leave

ManpowerGroup Inc., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, continues to take a strong stance on creating a supportive environment for men who wish to take paternity leave. For four consecutive years, the company has participated in Sekisui House's 'IKUKYU Project,' which aims to normalize paternal childcare leave in society.

Understanding the 'IKUKYU Project'

The 'IKUKYU Project' designates September 19 as 'Childcare Leave Awareness Day,' advocating for a shift in societal views that allows fathers to take childcare leave without stigma. The initiative encourages collaboration among diverse industries and has seen a record participation of 174 companies this year.

ManpowerGroup's Sustainability Efforts

ManpowerGroup believes that supporting everyone in the workforce can lead to a sustainable society. The company has established three pillars for its sustainability initiatives: Environment, People and Prosperity, and Governance Principles. Among these, the focus on People and Prosperity prioritizes Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB).

In an era where flexible working conditions have become essential, ManpowerGroup is committed to fostering an environment that allows employees to work in ways that suit them while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. This is achieved through remote work options and flexible hours.

By continuously supporting the 'IKUKYU Project,' ManpowerGroup aims to contribute to a society where men can take paternity leave without hesitation, enriching their family lives and professional responsibilities equally.

Voices of Employees Taking Paternity Leave

One employee, who took one month of paternity leave upon the birth of his second child on July 1, 2023, shared his experiences:

Employee A: “I felt a bit anxious about taking leave as a male in a sales position, but the support from my team leader, manager, and colleagues encouraged me. From the day my second child was born, I took a month-long leave. Being away from work allowed me to actively participate in childcare and household duties, and I cherished the time spent watching my newborn grow. It also gave me more moments with my two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, deepening our family bonds. Although the month flew by, it created precious memories. I believe that as societies normalize paternal leave, it will broaden the choices we have regarding work and family life.”
