Philip Morris International Launches 'Thanks for Giving'
Stamford, Connecticut, November 26, 2025 - Philip Morris International's U.S. segment (PMI U.S.) has officially unveiled the 'Thanks for Giving' initiative, aimed at galvanizing Coloradans to acknowledge and uplift the dedicated individuals and charitable entities that strive to strengthen communities throughout the state.
As the nation pauses for Thanksgiving and #GivingTuesday, this campaign emphasizes the year-round spirit of generosity, showcasing the remarkable efforts of both national and local organizations committed to making a difference in people's lives.
Marian Salzman, Senior Vice President of PMI U.S., emphasized the importance of sustained generosity, stating, "#GivingTuesday realized its potential only when the act of giving became a regular behavior. At PMI U.S., our commitment to generosity extends beyond a mere season; it permeates our culture every day of the year. It manifests in how our team invests time, creativity, and compassion into supporting various causes and communities we care about. Expressing gratitude is profound, but truly living it every day is even more impactful."
Since the beginning of 2024, PMI U.S. has allocated nearly $800,000 to support 24 organizations within Colorado, significantly enhancing community welfare through various initiatives. Amongst its core charitable endeavors, over $690,000 has been apportioned to military and veteran services and $84,000 has been directed towards economic empowerment efforts. This financial backing empowers local entities to spearhead transformative community-centric projects.
Rick Crandall, Founder and CEO of the Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation, proclaimed, "PMI U.S.'s support is invaluable in preserving the legacy of Colorado's fallen heroes and providing solace to their grieving families. Their involvement reinforces our mission to ensure that their sacrifices are not forgotten while educating future generations on the true cost of freedom."
Carrie Shores, Executive Director of So All May Eat, expressed gratitude towards PMI U.S. for their partnership, stating, "With their backing, we can continue to offer vital nourishment to our neighbors with dignity and integrity, bridging us towards a future where hunger is eradicated for all."
The 'Thanks for Giving' campaign also shines a spotlight on the WeCare program. This initiative allows PMI U.S. employees to nominate nonprofits for company-funded donations. In 2025 alone, over $1,860,000 was directed to more than 400 local organizations across 44 states and the District of Columbia, bringing PMI U.S.'s total contributions since 2022 to over $35 million nationwide.
In Colorado, PMI U.S. employees facilitated the allocation of over $30,000 in company-sponsored funds towards various local nonprofits. Amanda Boerman, Director of Philanthropy for Foothills Animal Shelter, noted, "PMI U.S.'s partnership has been crucial in helping us deliver tangible results for pets and people. Their WeCare Grants enable us to expand programs that ensure pets receive critical care while providing families with the resources necessary for their safety."
