Duke Energy Florida's Employees Lead Community Investment Initiatives in 2025

Duke Energy Florida has once again proven its commitment to community service through the remarkable efforts of its employees in 2025. The company has reported that its workforce contributed over $1 million to various community initiatives within Florida, underscoring the organization's dedication to enhancing the quality of life for its customers.

From early January until the end of November, Duke Energy Florida employees generously donated more than $293,000 to causes deeply important to them, while additionally volunteering nearly 11,000 hours in their local communities. This volunteer work, when assessed for monetary value, reaches over $380,000. Even more impressive, contributions from the Duke Energy Foundation, which included matching funds for employee donations, amounted to a staggering $387,000.

Melissa Seixas, the state president of Duke Energy Florida, highlighted the intrinsic motivation of employees to care for their communities, stating, "Caring for our customers is intrinsic to the work Duke Energy employees do every day, so it's no surprise that they would choose to continue giving back however they can." She expressed her pride in collaborating with such dedicated individuals who fulfill the company’s core values and create genuine value for the residents and communities they serve.

The Duke Energy Foundation further supported various initiatives across a service area that covers 35 counties in Florida. This included significant investments in climate resiliency efforts totaling around $300,000, $789,000 directed towards supporting higher education institutions, $163,000 for emergency preparedness and resiliency grants, and an additional $125,000 aimed at combating food insecurity.
