HONOR’s Bold New Vision for AI and Devices
On March 2nd, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona, global AI device ecosystem company HONOR introduced an ambitious plan for a new AI ecosystem during the opening discussion titled 'ConnectAI'. The company aims to foster an open device ecosystem through its HONOR AI Connect Platform, which is set to integrate over 20,000 AI services by the end of 2026.
Fang Fei, the President of Products at HONOR, presented the shift from a smartphone manufacturer to a leader in AI ecosystems, emphasizing how the HONOR AI Connect Platform will provide core AI features to all partners within this ecosystem. "This paradigm shift extends beyond mere connectivity and aims to create a profound shared intelligence, allowing users to have personal avatars within a vast, cross-brand ecosystem of devices," she stated.
During the panel discussion, Fang joined Lippe Lucas, Orange’s Executive Vice President of Partnerships, to discuss the convergence of AI, devices, and connectivity. Under the motto 'Tearing Down Walls', HONOR showcased its commitment to partnering with established brands like Orange to expand into new categories, such as education, smart home products, audio devices, pet technologies, and toys. Fang emphasized that the industry is on the brink of a 'Cambrian Explosion' for AI devices, drawing a parallel to the historical period of rapid diversification in life forms millions of years ago, suggesting that soon we will witness a similarly rapid emergence of intelligent devices.
In this evolving landscape, AI will take various forms, from 'embodied AI' represented by the HONOR Robot Phone to specialized AI companions developed in collaboration with partners. "We at HONOR believe that 'walled gardens' should be a thing of the past," Fang added. "Our vision is simple: to blend our human-centered approach with technology to maximize potential. We’re developing AI companions to enhance user creativity and connectivity."
The transformation is rooted in HONOR's advancements in underlying distributed technologies, overcoming the limitations of traditional screens in human-computer interactions. This technological shift is shown through two key trends—'decoupling' of smart hardware into specialized peripheral devices tailored to specific scenarios, and 'ubiquitization' of AI entry points that create new interaction paradigms suited for real-world contexts.
To create a seamless experience amidst these changes, HONOR is executing its strategy for an open AI device ecosystem through the HONOR AI Connect Platform. In this new environment, the 'interface' becomes a AI agent—a personal digital twin residing on a user's devices, utilizing its understanding to create intelligent continuity across a smartphone, connected car, smart home, or service robots.
This latest generation of devices marks a departure from traditional form factors, illustrating the concept of Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI), which converts devices from passive tools into proactive partners. A prime example is the HONOR Robot Phone, a groundbreaking gadget that merges smartphone innovation with robotics, capable of automatically capturing videos, thus enabling users to focus on their memories without distraction.
At the official product launch on March 1st, HONOR also showcased its latest AI-enabled foldable smartphone— the ultra-thin HONOR Magic V6, alongside a new generation of innovative PCs, tablets, and more. Global media representatives and MWC visitors were encouraged to visit the HONOR booth in Hall 3 to experience the future of intelligent devices.
