MetaOptics Enhances U.S. Expansion with Direct Laser Writer Deployment

The Direct Laser Writer is optimized for a 4-inch glass wafer, allowing the swift fabrication of metalens samples. Typically, a production cycle that previously took much longer can now be reduced to just a few weeks, significantly enhancing the time-to-market for new products. It enables quick iterations and modifications based on customer feedback and requirements, ensuring that product specifications can adapt to ever-changing market demands.

Strategic Importance of nano@stanford



The nano@stanford facility operates as a shared, open-use space that caters to over 1,400 members from various sectors, including industry, government, and academia. By placing its DLW there, MetaOptics gains access to a diverse base of potential collaborators and innovators. This strategic move is aimed at not only validating their technology through user feedback but also facilitating demonstrations to real-world applications.

MetaOptics’ DLW allows for the simultaneous fabrication of over 100 metalens units, each with a diameter as small as 0.1mm. This capability is crucial for various high-demand applications, including the structuring of co-packaged optics, collimation for improved interconnect efficiencies, and imaging processes, among others.

With this deployment, MetaOptics envisions the establishment of a “mini foundry” infrastructure at nano@stanford, providing a dedicated space for rapid prototyping and short turnaround time, thereby reducing the time to develop innovative optical solutions.
