Genesis and Genesis Inspiration Foundation Empower Michigan Youth Through STEAM and Arts Programs

Genesis and Genesis Inspiration Foundation Empower Michigan Youth

In a strong commitment to community development, Genesis Motor America, alongside its philanthropic arm, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation, has taken significant steps to enhance educational opportunities for young people in Michigan. Recently, they allocated $25,000 to Living Arts Detroit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring creativity through various forms of art.

The funds will allow Living Arts Detroit to provide comprehensive arts-integrated education programs that cater to children from infancy through to 18 years of age. This includes early childhood education, artist residencies in K-12 schools, and extensive afterschool arts classes. By expanding access to high-quality arts experiences, the organization aims to empower youth to express themselves confidently and empathetically, drawing strength from their cultural backgrounds and communities.

A Workshop in Innovation

As part of their outreach, Genesis also organized a STEAM workshop at South Hills Middle School, where nearly 50 middle school students participated. In collaboration with the Child Creativity Lab, the workshop offered an engaging curriculum focusing on product development. Students learned about the innovative processes behind product design while getting a firsthand look at an electrified Genesis vehicle, made from recycled materials and designed to be zero-emission.

The workshop didn’t stop at theory; it encouraged students to get hands-on, where they conceptualized and built their unique models of future mobility vehicles using upcycled materials. This mix of practical and theoretical education nurtured their curiosity and ingenuity, vital skills in today’s ever-evolving technological landscape.

Genesis Gives Back

Genesis Gives is a dedicated corporate social responsibility initiative that further solidifies the company’s commitment to community support. Since its creation, Genesis has funnelled over $2 million into programs intended to improve not only youth education but also accessibility to sports in under-resourced communities across the United States.

Brandon Ramirez, director of corporate social responsibility for Genesis Motor America, emphasized the importance of educational support, stating, "Education is the cornerstone of thriving communities. Genesis is proud to support STEAM and arts programs that foster creativity, discovery, and innovation. We are passionate about providing the next generation with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed."

The Mission of Genesis Inspiration Foundation

Founded in 2018, the Genesis Inspiration Foundation stands as a beacon of support for arts education. The nonprofit's mission focuses on improving educational results by providing access to arts programs that not only engage but inspire children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Over its short history, the foundation has distributed more than $13 million in grants to support youth art initiatives nationwide, effectively introducing children to a world of opportunities.

In conclusion, the efforts by Genesis and the Genesis Inspiration Foundation represent a holistic approach to community engagement and youth empowerment. By combining educational initiatives in both STEAM fields and the arts, they are laying down a pathway for the next generation to explore and realize their creative potential, fostering a sense of innovation and responsibility along the way.
