BridgePath Scientific's Generous Donation Empowers Frederick's BioMakerSpace for Community Growth

BridgePath Scientific's Major Donation to CELLS BioMakerSpace

BridgePath Scientific has made a substantial in-kind donation to the Community Enrichment Laboratory for Learning Sciences (CELLS), significantly enhancing the capabilities of the CELLS BioMakerSpace in Frederick County, Maryland. This generous contribution is crucial for the lab's operations, allowing it to expand educational initiatives while maintaining affordability for participants.

Located at the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. (FITCI), CELLS launched Maryland's first community biotechnology lab. With the donation of laboratory glassware, essential consumables for hands-on experiments, and small equipment, CELLS can now offer a broader array of internships, classes, and extended lab hours, providing more opportunities for exploration and engagement.

The impact of BridgePath Scientific's donation is already evident. The funding has enabled CELLS to support an undergraduate intern and train a high-school student in crafting and leading a two-part educational workshop focused on molecular separation techniques. This workshop, aptly named "Color Detectives Molecular Races," was tailored for middle school students and garnered impressive interest from parents, many of whom eagerly participated and engaged in experiments alongside their children.

Dr. Paralanov, the Founder and CEO of CELLS, expressed gratitude for the partnership with FITCI and the invaluable donation from BridgePath Scientific, emphasizing the importance of making science accessible to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. The aim is to ignite a lifelong passion for learning, particularly in the realms of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). He noted, "It was thrilling to observe parents enjoying the experiments with their kids, celebrating their 'Aha!' moments together about the science involved."

The donation alleviates financial burdens traditionally affiliated with biotechnology workshops, which often require costly specialized equipment and materials. Dr. Paralanov highlighted that the reduced fees for participants become possible due to this robust support. CELLS remains dedicated to making science education inclusive, and plans to schedule additional workshops using the newly donated materials. Details will be available on their calendar and Eventbrite page.

Patrick Haley, the Founder and CEO of BridgePath Scientific, stated, "We take pride in aiding initiatives that ensure hands-on science education becomes accessible for all. Our impact seeks not only to foster curiosity but to inspire future scientists, ensuring STEAM learning is engaging and affordable for families within the Frederick community."
