Mike Fragoso Joins Torridon Law PLLC as Partner
On November 13, 2025, Torridon Law PLLC announced a significant addition to its legal team: Mike Fragoso, a former Chief Counsel to the Senate Majority Leader and a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, has joined the firm as a partner. This move brings extensive Washington experience to Torridon, ultimately enhancing the firm's capability to navigate complex legal issues for its clients.
Fragoso’s Noteworthy Career
Mike Fragoso has had a distinguished career, serving in pivotal roles in government that have provided him with a deep understanding of legislative processes. As the Chief Counsel to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, he advised on critical legal policies within the Senate, managing legislation crucial to the Republican agenda. His responsibilities included negotiating significant bills, overseeing congressional oversight, and preparing witnesses for contentious hearings.
Before his role with Leader McConnell, Fragoso was the chief counsel for nominations and constitutional law on the Senate Judiciary Committee. In this capacity, he was instrumental during two presidential impeachment inquiries and managed the confirmation of over 80 federal judges, including Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. His expertise in judicial nominations will be invaluable as Torridon Law continues to represent clients in government and regulatory affairs.
Experience at the Department of Justice
Earlier in his illustrious career, Fragoso served as Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Department of Justice's Office of Legal Policy. During this time, he was responsible for managing efforts related to judicial nominations and prepared more than 100 nominees for Senate confirmation hearings. His background provides him with a unique perspective that blends legal acumen with a strategic approach to navigating government regulations and processes.
Mike began his legal career clerking for Judge Diane Sykes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Following that, he was an associate at the prestigious law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he honed his skills in corporate law before transitioning into government service.
Community and Professional Involvement
In addition to his work at Torridon, Mike is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Federalist Society, a leading organization of conservatives and libertarians dedicated to reforming the current legal system. His involvement highlights his commitment to fostering a legal community that emphasizes originalism and textualism in statutory interpretation.
Mike’s co-founders at Torridon have expressed their enthusiasm about his addition to the team. William Barr, co-founder of Torridon Law and former U.S. Attorney General, remarked, "Having worked closely with Mike over the years, I can attest he is a rare talent. His ability to craft compelling legal documents is matched by few, and his strategic insight uniquely positions Torridon to effectively handle complex legal challenges."
Fragoso himself expressed excitement about joining the firm by likening it to being called up to join a champions team, stating, "The experience my colleagues bring to the table is unmatched. Their background in both government and the private sector positions Torridon perfectly to tackle the intricate problems faced by our clients."
