China Global Television Network Launches Three New FAST Channels for Global Viewers

CGTN Unveils Three New FAST Channels

On November 7, 2025, China Global Television Network (CGTN), the international branch of China Media Group (CMG), officially launched three new channels on advertising-supported streaming platforms (FAST). This initiative is aimed at presenting a wide array of engaging programming to a global audience, with a potential reach of up to 200 million viewers.

The Newly Launched Channels

The three new channels are CGTN Global Biz, China Travel, and Discovering China. All channels will operate 24 hours a day across 15 major international FAST platforms, marking a significant milestone in CMG's strategy to explore modern business models within its international communications framework.

1. CGTN Global Biz: This channel focuses on delivering financial news and insights. It aims to provide viewers with timely updates on economic events, market analysis, and expert interviews, helping an international audience understand China’s evolving economic strategies and trends.

2. China Travel: This channel showcases the diverse and dynamic lifestyle and travel trends in China. It serves as a cultural window, introducing global audiences to the rich cultural offerings of contemporary China.

3. Discovering China: This channel features documentaries highlighting China's modernization achievements and emphasizes the cultural exchanges between various civilizations. This initiative aims to paint a broad picture of China's development and culture.

Each channel will feature six hours of original content daily, which will be repeated throughout the day, sourced from high-quality production facilities.

Expanding FAST Programming

Since 2023, CGTN has been expanding its FAST offerings, previously launching CGTN English and a documentary channel on leading global FAST platforms. As a relatively new format that has rapidly gained traction in the global television landscape, FAST is known for its specific content, recognizable branding, accessible programming, and advertisement-driven revenue model.

The launch of these channels coincided with significant events such as the Inaugural Global Meeting of Southern Media Partners and the 13th Global Video Media Forum (VMF), previously held in the historic city of Xi'an in northwestern China's Shaanxi province. This occurrence underlines CGTN's commitment to enhancing international cooperation and sharing diverse cultural narratives.

In summary, CGTN's entry into the FAST market represents a strategic move to extend its international reach and present diverse narratives from China. With a focus on unique content tailored for foreign audiences, CGTN aims to achieve a greater understanding of China and its rapid transformation in a globally interconnected world.
