Launching the World Bee Day Tree Planting Action Project for a Sustainable Future

Launching the World Bee Day Tree Planting Action Project

On May 20, in line with the international observance established by the United Nations, Yamada Bee Company has kicked off an inspiring initiative titled the "World Bee Day Tree Planting Action Project." This is designed to promote environmental conservation activities aimed at ensuring a sustainable future. As a first step in this project, the company will hold a tree planting festival on May 17, 2025, at its headquarters in Okayama, Japan, and will also allocate part of the sales from online transactions during this period toward tree planting costs.

The World Bee Day serves to recognize the invaluable role of bees in pollinating plants, which is essential for maintaining the food chain and ecosystem. Established in 2017, this international day was created to raise awareness about bees and their significance to the environment, coinciding with the birthday of Anton Jansa, a pioneer in modern beekeeping from Slovenia.

Yamada Bee Company has been dedicated to environmental restoration through tree-planting activities since 1999, during which they have planted over 2.3 million trees worldwide. In response to the growing awareness of World Bee Day, the company aims to broaden its tree-planting initiatives, enlisting more partners across the globe to take small but impactful actions toward conservation.

The project has garnered the support of various stakeholders including group companies such as Yamada Bee Farm and Bee Happy, as well as the Immunology Analysis Research Center, and Supplement Japan. Notably, the TBS Holdings Sustainability Creation Center, which shares the same commitment to conservation through beekeeping, has joined this initiative. Moreover, numerous global partners including local primary schools in Minato Ward and the United States’ LifeSeasons, Inc. are collaborating in this impactful venture.

This initiative emphasizes starting small actions, whether it be planting trees, sowing flower seeds, or raising awareness about the importance of bees through art and social media campaigns. By using the hashtag #BeeTreePlantingAction, the project encourages individuals and organizations to showcase their efforts, thus contributing to the larger goal of enhancing the natural environment where bees thrive.

In light of the inaugural tree planting festival on May 17, 2025, which is expected to see participation from company employees and their families, approximately 2,000 saplings will be planted. Darren Peterson, the representative of LifeSeasons, is also anticipated to join the festival with his family. The event may be postponed in case of adverse weather conditions.

Project Overview

Project Name: World Bee Day Tree Planting Action Project
Purpose: To commence tree-planting activities triggered by World Bee Day, aiming to increase the habitats where bees can thrive, alongside encouraging small environmental conservation actions by businesses, organizations, and individuals around the world.

Official Campaigns

Various campaigns will be held on social media platforms to promote actions related to the project. This includes posts about planting actions, share opportunities on Instagram from May 8 to August 8, with ‘honeycomb’ as a potential prize, and engagement on X to increase the number of trees planted by reposting campaign posts related to World Bee Day.

Collaborating Organizations and Planned Actions

Engagement from diverse organizations has expedited the shared initiative. For instance,
  • - TBS Holdings Sustainability Creation Center will adopt parks in Minato Ward for planting seasonal nectar-producing flowers.
  • - Schools such as Aoyama and Akasaka Elementary will host bee education classes and partake in planting activities.
  • - Various collaborations are set for sowing flower seeds and enhancing local biodiversity, emphasizing the community's involvement in promoting eco-friendly practices.

As we move forward, the collective participation in these small yet significant actions is believed to be the root of achieving a more sustainable planet for future generations. Through this project, Yamada Bee Company aspires not only to brighten environmental prospects but also to inspire a community-wide movement dedicated to bees and nature.
