Corporate Partnerships Boost American Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts Amid Extreme Weather

Corporate Partnerships Amplify American Red Cross's Disaster Relief Efforts

The American Red Cross is facing an unprecedented demand for its services as families across the United States grapple with the effects of extreme weather. With record heat waves, devastating floods, and destructive wildfires becoming more commonplace, the organization's commitment to helping those in need has never been more vital. As we observe National Preparedness Month this September, the Red Cross proudly acknowledges the contributions of 165 corporate partners that fuel its Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) and Disaster Responder Program.

Every year, the Red Cross responds to around 65,000 disasters, and thanks to these generous corporate donors, the organization is well-prepared to react before crises escalate. Through continuous financial support, as well as material donations, these corporations enable the Red Cross to preposition essential supplies, train volunteers, and maintain a state of readiness for emergencies. Such proactive measures are crucial in ensuring immediate assistance can be provided, covering needs from shelter and food to emotional support during crises.

“After another year of relentless and compounding disasters, I want to express my deep gratitude to our ADGP and Disaster Responder members,” stated Cliff Holtz, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. “Their proactive support allows us to respond immediately, offering shelter, food, emotional support, and more to families affected by these emergencies.”

The growing frequency and intensity of disasters are mirrored by a survey indicating that most Americans perceive extreme weather as an escalating threat to their communities. The Red Cross is experiencing this demand firsthand, having already managed several significant disasters in 2025, including severe wildfires, tornado impacts, and flash floods. Yet, despite the significant increase in large-scale disasters, home fires remain the most prevalent emergency in the nation's landscape. The Red Cross is not only committed to responding to these incidents but also actively works to prepare families. Their Home Fire Campaign has been instrumental, saving over 2,460 lives since its inception in October 2014.

The organization is urging everyone to take action during National Preparedness Month by creating an emergency plan for their households. Gathering necessary supplies and ensuring connectivity during crises are key steps in establishing a safety net for loved ones. The Red Cross provides resources for this planning, including a free Emergency app available for download.

Corporate partnerships play a crucial role in enabling the Red Cross to fulfill its mission. Among the notable contributors are brands such as Amazon, American Airlines, and Costco Wholesale, recognized as “Mission Leader Members,” contributing exceptional support either financially or through in-kind donations. Significant annual contributions, such as the ADGP $1 million members including American Honda Motor Company and Delta Air Lines, underscore the critical collaboration in enhancing disaster preparedness and response measures.

This collective effort through the ADGP and Disaster Responder Program allows the American Red Cross to be at the forefront of disaster relief, ensuring that they can reach those in need swiftly and effectively. The commitment and generosity of these corporate partners exemplify the spirit of community support and solidarity during challenging times.

As the landscape of disasters continues to evolve, so too does the Red Cross's approach to relief efforts. The recognition of corporate partners during National Preparedness Month is a call to action for all, reinforcing the need for collective responsibility in disaster preparedness and response.
