Naoki Ota, a director at JTOWER Holdings, has been appointed as an advisor for digital transformation at the Japanese Cabinet, effective December 1, 2025. This significant role leverages Ota's extensive expertise and prior experience in both public and private sectors, particularly in areas related to technology and telecommunications.

Ota’s past experience at the Boston Consulting Group as a senior partner and managing director allowed him to lead the Telecom, Media, and Technology group across Asia. His strategic insights and leadership skills were evident during his tenure as an assistant to former Minister Sanae Takaichi from 2015 to 2017. During this period, Ota was integral in crafting and executing policies to revitalize local economies and implement advanced technologies like IoT and AI into society.

The decision to appoint Ota comes from his robust background in digital transformation, combined with his hands-on experience in facilitating governmental policies and initiatives. His first-hand knowledge of challenges in the tech and telecommunications sectors positions him uniquely to advise the government on navigating the complexities of digital advancements.

Since June 2019, Ota has contributed to the growth of JTOWER as an external director. He will maintain his position on the board of JTOWER Holdings even after assuming his new role in the government, ensuring that the company continues to benefit from his vast knowledge and insights drawn from both sectors.
