Bibigo: A Taste of Korean Culture at the 2026 Winter Olympics
As the world turns its eyes on Milan for the Winter Olympics 2026, CJ Foods is seizing the opportunity to showcase its renowned brand,
bibigo. Located in the heart of Milan at Villa Necchi Campiglio, the
bibigo Zone has been designed to immerse visitors in the rich culture and delightful flavors of Korean cuisine. This innovative initiative is part of a broader strategy by CJ Foods to expand its footprint in the European food market and introduce
K-Food to a global audience.
The
Korea House, managed by the Korean Sport Olympic Committee (KSOC), has become a hub for both athletes and visitors alike, offering a unique culinary experience that aligns perfectly with the spirit of the Olympics. Visitors can indulge in a variety of Korean dishes, including popular bibigo offerings like
Ramyun noodles in flavors such as K-BBQ and Kimchi, recently launched in Europe.
In addition to the noodles, bibigo's stand is packed with an appealing selection of Korean delicacies, including
mandus (Korean dumplings), chicken, seaweed snacks,
tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and kimchi. This spread is not only about satisfying hunger but also about promoting brand awareness and exploring new retail opportunities within the local market.
Stephan Czypionka, the managing director of CJ Foods, remarked, "This event is a fantastic opportunity to introduce bibigo and Korean food to a larger global audience. As a leading K-Food brand, we are committed to promoting the flavors of Korean cuisine worldwide through engaging marketing activities."
CJ Foods and
bibigo have established a presence in the Korea House since the Summer Olympics in 2024 held in Paris, where they successfully provided a pop-up stand that attracted massive attention. There, they sold 500 dishes daily within just four hours, demonstrating the immense popularity of Korean cuisine.
Europe is positioned as a key region for CJ's global K-Food expansion. The brand officially entered the European market in 2018 by acquiring German frozen food company Mainfrost, and has since opened subsidiaries in the UK, France, and Hungary. bibigo's products are now available in 27 European countries, with annual sales exceeding 100 billion KRW for their European food operations in 2024. Notably, sales have seen an impressive growth of 25% year-on-year during the first three quarters of 2025.
To meet the growing local demand, CJ Foods is currently building a new production facility near Budapest, Hungary, set to complete by the end of this year. This new plant will produce bibigo's dumplings and chicken specifically for the European market, highlighting the brand's commitment to catering to local tastes and preferences.
