Clarios Reaches a Milestone in Energy Storage

In a significant achievement for the energy storage market, Clarios, a prominent player in advanced battery technology, has announced the production of its one-millionth 12-volt lithium-ion battery as of January 31, 2025. This landmark event not only showcases Clarios’ commitment to innovation but also demonstrates the strength of its global network in supporting energy storage solutions.

The company specializes in manufacturing lithium titanate oxide (LTO) cells in the United States while assembling systems in Europe close to its customer base. With a vast array of applications, these lithium-ion batteries are critical for vehicles with high electrification demands, including traditional internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and electric vehicles (EVs).

Transitioning from a lead-acid battery manufacturer to a provider of agnostic energy systems, Clarios has successfully produced six million prismatic LTO cells and a million lithium-ion batteries, signaling a significant capability evolution. The LTO cells are made within the Clarios factory located in Meadowbrook, Michigan, emphasizing the trend toward domestic production.

The battery assembly facility in Hanover, Germany, serves as a pivotal part of Clarios’ global manufacturing strategy. Here, cutting-edge technology and a dedicated workforce develop innovative energy storage solutions for deployment worldwide. Since launching the low-voltage lithium-ion battery production line in 2020, Clarios has continually invested in refining technology and expanding production capabilities to meet the growing demand for advanced battery systems.
