Conclusion of the World Youth Forum Dual Summits
The World Youth Forum (WYF) has successfully wrapped up its 2025 Dual Summits – the Future Economics Leadership Summit (WYF-FELS) held in Hong Kong and the Future Liberal Arts Leadership Summit (WYF-FLALS) in Macau. These back-to-back events took place from August 5 to 16 and attracted nearly 1,000 enthusiastic youth representatives and educators from 15 countries, including China, India, and the United States.
A Stage for Global Dialogue
Co-created by influential partners from various sectors, the forum set the stage for interdisciplinary and cross-cultural dialogues centered around contemporary global issues, with a specific focus on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). The event facilitated engaging discussions and provided a platform for knowledge sharing, allowing participants to collaborate on pressing global challenges. Notable attendees included prominent figures such as Mr. Zhao Gang, Director of the Global Innovation Center, and Dr. Un Shil Choi, Chairperson of the UNESCO Expert Advisory Committee for Learning Cities. Their involvement underscored the significance of expert guidance in shaping youth-oriented discussions.
Exploring AI's Implications
The WYF-FELS summit incorporated high-level academic challenges, such as the National Economics Challenge (NEC) and Business Professionals of America (BPA), creating a dynamic environment for youth to engage with and tackle economic and business concepts. This multi-dimensional challenge system facilitated a collaborative atmosphere where diverse international teams explored global economic affairs, exhibiting notable insights and understanding of the challenges at hand. Meanwhile, the WYF-FLALS summit focused on topics about technology, social equity, and sustainable urban development, urging participants to analyze these concepts through an interdisciplinary lens that included mathematical, scientific, and artistic perspectives.
Cross-Cultural Collaborations and Insights
One of the most notable aspects of the WYF summits was the 'U20 Youth Voices' initiative, which encouraged the formation of cross-national teams. Collaborative teams from countries such as the United States and South Korea, as well as Singapore and Thailand, engaged in profound discussions about sustainable development and the intersection of technology with social equity. These dialogues yielded innovative and groundbreaking perspectives from young leaders, establishing the importance of cross-cultural collaboration in addressing global challenges.
Vishva Rao, a youth participant from the United States, expressed his excitement: "Engaging with peers from various backgrounds has broadened my understanding of how diverse perspectives shape economic thought. It's been rewarding to forge friendships while tackling significant issues together."
A Commitment to Lifelong Learning
The event also included the 'Educators’ Symposium,' where educators from various countries discussed essential topics like financial literacy and the transformation of education through AI. Furthermore, accomplished alumni reflected on how their experiences with WYF and NEC have influenced their academic and professional journeys. This highlight illustrated the long-term benefits and the lasting impact organizations like WYF have on young minds.
Mr. Christopher Caltabiano, Interim CEO of the Council for Economic Education, emphasized the integral role WYF plays in empowering youth, stating, "This is a tremendous partnership that aligns seamlessly with our guiding principles to expand educational opportunities to youth in various countries."
The success of the forum has reinforced the belief that youth are crucial shapers of the future. Houston Hou, Executive Convener of WYF, remarked, "Our organization will continue to provide a global platform for youth, targeting multiple literacy fields like science and health by 2030. We aim to reach 100 countries, serving as a beacon of inspiration and engagement for youth worldwide."
