Zoomlion Drives Forward with Revolutionary Hybrid and Electric Technology Innovations
Zoomlion's Innovative Leap in Hybrid and Electric Technologies
In an impressive display of technological progress, Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has officially recognized key achievements in hybrid and electric drive technology. During its 7th Science and Technology Innovation Conference held on June 16, the company unveiled its strategy to push forward the adoption of eco-friendly technologies across a diverse range of heavy machinery, including construction, agricultural, and mining equipment.
One standout achievement highlighted by the company is the introduction of its world-leading 300-ton electric-drive hybrid mining truck. This towering model exemplifies Zoomlion's commitment to revolutionizing the heavy-duty vehicle industry with more sustainable solutions aimed at reducing emissions and improving efficiency.
The conference also showcased a series of groundbreaking innovations, including an ultra-high-horsepower hybrid tractor, advanced electric-drive technologies for large machinery, and intelligent control systems for mobile cranes. Furthermore, Zoomlion introduced a series-hybrid and all-electric-drive solution for combine harvesters, alongside a patent portfolio focusing on hybrid systems for high-horsepower tractors. These developments are part of Zoomlion's broader strategy to cultivate greener and smarter equipment across its business sectors.
To further enhance these efforts, Zoomlion has established a dedicated new-energy technology development platform. This platform not only supports the company’s electric-drive system architecture but is also integral for the customized development of core components. Technical collaborations across different business units ensure that Zoomlion's product portfolio is rich and versatile, extending to construction, agricultural, and mining machinery. The comprehensive lineup now includes options powered by battery-electric, hybrid, and hydrogen fuel cell technologies, along with innovative battery-swapping and plug-in charging solutions.
In 2025 alone, Zoomlion developed nearly 60 new-energy products, bringing its total offering to an impressive 240 products. This extensive variety enables the company to provide complete solutions—from machines and equipment to essential components like batteries and motors, including both fuel cell systems and testing capabilities for lithium batteries and hydrogen fuel cells.
A prime example of these innovative efforts is the company's new-energy agricultural machinery, which exemplifies the potential of hybrid technology. With a commitment to enhancing efficiency, Zoomlion has implemented hybrid control technology in new-energy tractors and wheat harvesters. Notably, the hybrid wheat harvester has achieved fuel savings of around 30%, while the hybrid tractor boasts an 8% reduction in fuel consumption. Additionally, the company has integrated chassis-by-wire technology into its unmanned mining trucks, which allows for robust and safe operation under demanding conditions, leveraging a three-tier braking system that includes retarder, electric, and mechanical braking methods.
Ou Biao, the Director of the Vehicle Control Institute at Zoomlion New Energy Technology Company, stated, "For our team, this recognition serves as both a validation of our engineers' hard work and a motivation to continue pushing boundaries. The development of new-energy products necessitates extensive field testing in challenging environments, and this acknowledgment inspires us to remain attuned to customer needs while overcoming technical hurdles."
Looking ahead, Zoomlion is dedicated to driving innovation in new-energy equipment, with an emphasis on better understanding and addressing the unique requirements of customers around the globe. As the company continues to expand its offerings in hybrid and electric machinery, it remains committed to advancing technology that not only meets industry needs but also contributes significantly to global sustainability efforts.
