National School Choice Week 2026 to Engage Millions with Over 28,000 Events Across the U.S.

National School Choice Week 2026

Starting on January 25, 2026, National School Choice Week will kick off a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering families to explore educational opportunities. This year, it is estimated that tens of millions of parents will consider relocating their children to different schools, emphasizing the critical role that school choice plays in the U.S. education system.

The event is expected to feature over 28,000 activities across the country, singularly focusing on the diverse range of K-12 educational options available. Parents will have the chance to learn about various schooling methods including traditional public schools, charter schools, magnet programs, private institutions, online education, home-schooling, and other nontraditional schooling formats.

Understanding School Choice
School choice refers to a parent's ability to select the educational environment that best aligns with their child’s learning needs, interests, and capabilities. In the last five years, more than 30 states have implemented or revised policies, providing families with greater flexibility and autonomy in deciding their children’s educational paths.

The National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF) leads this initiative by coordinating local fairs and community forums that strive to inform parents. Such initiatives encourage parents to thoroughly understand the options available for their children, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

A Season of Energy and Engagement
According to Andrew Campanella, CEO of NSCAF, the excitement surrounding school choice has never been higher. “In 20 years, I have not seen the level of excitement and energy around school choice that exists right now,” he stated. He emphasized that understanding school choice isn't about pitting different educational models against one another, but rather about celebrating the individuality of each child and how they can thrive in different environments.

This year's overarching theme for National School Choice Week is to encourage parents to investigate and realize the great opportunities present in their communities. If families currently enjoy their children's schooling experience, they are also encouraged to share their positive experiences with other parents.

Events and Information
In addition to local school fairs and events designed to enhance community understanding, the organizers will also coordinate approximately 55 large-scale events—such as state capitol rallies and showcases for students—aimed at amplifying the conversation about educational options at a state level.

Parents seeking guidance on educational options can access resources in both English and Spanish through platforms such as myschoolchoice.com and opcionesescolares.com. This is part of NSCAF's commitment to ensure that families have all necessary information at their fingertips.

For media members wishing to get involved or report on the week's activities, comprehensive multimedia resources and event details can be found at schoolchoiceweek.com/multimedia. To discover events taking place in local areas, families can visit schoolchoiceweek.com/state-celebrations.

National School Choice Week is more than just an event; it’s a movement toward fostering educational freedom for all families. With the combined efforts of parents, educators, and community organizers, this year’s School Choice Week is set to empower families nationwide—enabling them to find the best educational paths for their children.
