Junior Achievement Honors 77 Organizations for Their Dedication to Volunteering
Junior Achievement USA is set to recognize the incredible contributions of 77 organizations with the prestigious U.S. President's Volunteer Service Awards. This event is scheduled to occur at the upcoming JA Volunteer Summit on March 11 in New York.
In this year’s awards, organizations demonstrating outstanding volunteer efforts across three tiers will be honored. The gold level award—marked by over 10,000 volunteer hours—will be presented to notable names such as Bank of America, Deloitte, and Starbucks. The silver level recognizes those who dedicated 5,000 or more volunteer hours, including giants like Accenture LLP and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Lastly, the bronze level, acknowledging contributions of 1,500 or more volunteer hours, includes diverse firms such as Amazon and Toyota Motor Corporation.
Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the pandemic, these organizations have continued to provide mentorship and serve as positive role models for students, playing a crucial role in their development and success. Tim Greinert, President of Junior Achievement USA, emphasized the importance of volunteers in delivering impactful learning experiences. The commitment shown by these corporations not only enriches the lives of young people but also fosters a culture of community service across the nation.
Established in 2003 by President George W. Bush, the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation aims to celebrate the significant impact volunteers make within their communities. The Council spearheaded the creation of the President's Volunteer Service Award program to express gratitude to individuals who inspire others through their commitment to volunteerism. In 2006, Junior Achievement was appointed as an official certifying organization, endorsing corporations that demonstrate a commitment to actively engaging volunteers in educational programs worldwide.
With an expansive reach, Junior Achievement provides support to over 4.6 million students each year in 99 markets throughout the U.S. This initiative is vital in cultivating financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship among the youth. The organization's goals extend beyond merely elementary and high school age groups, as they also strive to assist young adults aged 18 to 25 by equipping them with essential life skills. Moreover, Junior Achievement is widening its scope to include pre-K children, ensuring that foundational learning begins early in life.
Junior Achievement's dedication to nurturing young minds and creating opportunities for them to succeed is commendable. This year's honorees represent a diverse array of sectors, showcasing the universal value of volunteerism in enhancing community engagement and social responsibility. As the celebration approaches, one can only anticipate the words of encouragement and appreciation that will be shared at the summit, marking a momentous occasion for both the organization and its supporters.
