KEIAI Real Estate Showcases Dual Career Support for Para Athletes

KEIAI Real Estate Co., Ltd., headquartered in Honjo City, Saitama Prefecture, recently presented its initiatives related to para sports support and the employment of persons with disabilities at an exchange event organized by the Tokyo Sports Culture Foundation (Sports Commission TOKYO).

The event aimed to further promote sports, including the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, and strengthen collaboration among sponsoring companies and organizations. During the session, KEIAI shared insights into how its "KEIAI Challenged Athlete Team" has pioneered a dual-career employment model that balances creating corporate value with sustainable second career support, reaching an audience of over 50 participants from approximately 30 companies.

Highlights of the Presentation

In the presentation, KEIAI focused on three key axes to address common challenges faced by many companies regarding para sports support and the employment of persons with disabilities, particularly the issues of job stagnation and post-retirement career assistance for athletes.

Transition to In-Office Dual Career and Second Career Support

KEIAI has introduced a dual-career employment model, allowing its athletes to regularly work in the office while also competing in sports. This approach enhances engagement between athletes and regular employees, fostering a sense of belonging and creating an environment conducive to athletic focus. Additionally, a transition scheme to permanent employment has been developed, enabling athletes to utilize their work experience post-retirement. For instance, following the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, an athlete has already transitioned to a full-time role since April this year, showcasing KEIAI’s commitment to long-term career development.

Integrating Athlete Expertise Through Personal Health Consultations

KEIAI has established a "Personal Health Consultation Desk" to leverage the specialized knowledge of athletes for employee wellness. This initiative provides support for areas such as stretching and mental control, benefiting nearly 100 employees. By increasing direct interaction between athletes and staff, KEIAI aims to enhance internal engagement and promote health management within the company.

Community Contribution and Social Impact Visualization

The company also conducts various external activities, including para sports classes at schools in Omiya, leading to 41 initiatives annually. KEIAI has quantified the ripple effect of its public relations efforts, estimating it to be equivalent to 1.64 billion yen in advertising value. This has resulted in a substantial change in mindset among athletes, allowing them to take a proactive role in planning and media interactions.

About the KEIAI Challenged Athlete Team

Founded in April 2019, the KEIAI Challenged Athlete Team embodies the philosophy of being Japan's most challenging athlete team. The team not only strives to overcome disabilities but also to reach even greater heights. Currently, the team includes six members competing in deaf soccer, futsal, and judo. As top athletes, they undergo rigorous training while also contributing as trainers within the company and participating actively in awareness-raising activities for para sports through events and experience sessions.

To date, KEIAI has held various experience sessions and para sports tournaments in collaboration with companies, municipalities, and educational institutions, introducing para sports to over 5,000 individuals in Honjo City and beyond.
