Exploring Z Generation's Awareness on Human Capital Management through lotsful's Survey

Understanding Z Generation's Perspectives on Human Capital Management

In a move to better understand the career preferences of Generation Z employees, lotsful Company, managed by Persol Innovation, recently conducted a comprehensive survey focusing on the awareness surrounding human capital management. The survey targeted individuals aged 20 to 29, reflecting the unique mindset of this digital-native generation regarding workplace conditions.

Survey Findings

Awareness of Human Capital Information Disclosure

One of the standout findings from the survey was the recognition of 'human capital information disclosure.' Among all respondents, 48.7% reported having heard of the term, with 30.6% indicating they understood its contents well. Notably, this awareness rose to an impressive 81.5% among those with side-job experience, suggesting that these individuals have a heightened interest in company welfare systems and salary frameworks.
Human capital information disclosure encompasses details about employees' skills, experiences, working conditions, engagement levels, and the company's diversity landscape.

Interaction with Human Capital Information

When asked whether they had previously seen any information related to a company's human capital, 45.0% confirmed they had. The preferred mediums for this information were primarily corporate recruitment pages and social media platforms, identified by 32.9% and 32.2% of respondents, respectively. This illustrates the effective use of social media by companies in disseminating information while aligning with the Z Generation's favored information sources.

The Importance of Human Capital Information in Job Selection

Interestingly, when queried about the impact of human capital information on their job selection and working styles, 57.2% of overall respondents acknowledged its significance. This figure rose to 83.1% among those with side-job experience, showcasing a strong correlation between side-job engagement and the prioritization of human capital details while making employment choices. Among different aspects, transparency in salary and compensation stood out as the most critical factor for 39.4% of the respondents, followed closely by welfare benefits and work-life balance (33.7%) and low turnover rates (31.8%).

Concerns Over the Utility of Human Capital Information

While many view human capital information positively, 15.8% indicated it had little to no effect on their job selection. The primary reasoning behind this viewpoint was that such information tends to be abstract and not conducive to establishing comparative grounds between companies.

Recommendations for Companies

To optimize the impact of human capital information on prospective employees, the survey highlighted the necessity for continuous updates and systematic management of this data. Respondents emphasized the importance of regular reviews and transparent information presentations, with 26.1% advocating for ongoing updates and 24.1% favoring data-driven, objective communications. This indicates a clear call for companies to develop robust systems for managing human capital information.

Conclusion

Reflecting on the survey's conclusions, lotsful Company CEO Midori Tanaka noted that although Generation Z is often described as having diverse values and a desire for flexible work options, a substantial portion of side-job workers places importance on human capital details when making employment decisions. The need for companies to frequently review and update their human capital information is critical to attracting young talent. Additionally, as more employees seek flexible work arrangements, the role of side jobs in enhancing employee engagement is becoming increasingly prominent. Organizations may benefit by considering the integration of freelance opportunities as part of their human capital strategies.
