Kinokuniya Opens Its Fifth Store in the Philippines at SM City Cebu

Kinokuniya Expands to Cebu with New Store

Kinokuniya Bookstore, a prominent Japanese bookstore chain, has announced the opening of its fifth store in the Philippines, located at SM City Cebu. The new outlet will officially open its doors to customers on August 22, 2025. This is a notable expansion for the chain, as the store is situated in one of the largest shopping malls in Cebu, featuring over 700 tenants.

Until now, all of Kinokuniya's collaboration stores with local bookstore Fully Booked have been in the greater Manila area. The SM City Cebu store marks the first location outside of Manila for Kinokuniya, illustrating the company's commitment to reaching more Filipino readers across the country.

Since 2022, Kinokuniya has partnered with Fully Booked, a leading bookstore chain in the Philippines, to provide Japanese books for local customers. Previously, Kinokuniya has established stores in high-profile locations such as Mitsukoshi Manila, SM Mall of Asia, SM North EDSA, and Glorietta, with a focus on providing manga, art books, children's literature, and Japanese language texts. The response from local customers has been overwhelmingly positive, and Kinokuniya plans to continue expanding its presence in the Philippines in collaboration with Fully Booked.
