On November 21, 2026, from 10 AM to 4 PM, AIST will host its annual open house event at the Tsukuba Center, welcoming visitors to a day of innovation, research, and interaction with researchers. This year’s theme, "Giving Up is Not an Option, Celebrating a Quarter Century," commemorates AIST's 25th anniversary, showcasing its cutting-edge research and technology through engaging programs and discussions with researchers.

What's in Store at the 25th Anniversary Open House?

This year’s event marks a significant milestone as AIST celebrates its 25th anniversary with an enriching special open house. The event primarily targets middle school students and above, but younger children are also welcome. Expect an expanded range of hands-on experiences with various booths dedicated to AIST’s journey and significant advancements over the past twenty-five years, including a sector focused on geological research where attendees can freely explore.

A key highlight will be a series of lectures featuring special guest Shunki Sugai from QuizKnock, alongside a robust lineup expanding from last year’s single presentation to five impactful discussions. Participants can also partake in the popular "Lab Tours," guided by researchers, offering 19 courses for approximately 1,200 attendees. Additional attendee perks include unique “Researcher Cards” acquired by asking researchers questions and “Research Comics,” crafted by AIST’s dedicated manga artist.

Enjoy 32 interactive booths presenting the latest research findings. Notable features include guided tours through previously inaccessible facilities focusing on Quantum and AI integration in technology development.

Interactive demonstrations such as AI that understands conversational context, innovative light lattice clocks, and 3D geological mapping technologies will be showcased, exemplifying 25 years of relentless research efforts.

• - Food and Unique Experiences:
