Visa Launches Nationwide Touch Payment Campaign
Visa Worldwide Japan is set to roll out an exciting new campaign promoting cashless payments using touch technology for train rides across Japan. Starting from May 1 to May 31, 2026, the "Touch Visa Discount Campaign!" aims to enhance the cashless experience in public transportation. This initiative marks a significant expansion from regional projects, transforming it into Visa's first nationwide promotion for touch payment use on public transit involving 46 major railway companies across the country.
Campaign Highlights
During the campaign, users who register for the Visa discount program can receive a 30% cashback on their train fares when they use eligible Visa cards for touch payments. The cashback is capped at a maximum of 600 yen per card during the promotion period. This applies not only to Visa cards but also to payments made via smartphones and smartwatches, thus ensuring a seamless cashless payment experience.
As part of this campaign, Visa intends to launch a robust marketing strategy that includes TV commercials and extensive digital advertisements concentrated in key areas such as the metropolitan region, Kansai, and Fukuoka. In celebration of touch payment services starting with Tokyo Metro, select train cars on the Marunouchi and Ginza Lines will receive special interior wraps.
