Special Lecture on Career Development by Arsaga Partners' CTO for Japanese Economic University Students

Special Lecture by Arsaga Partners' CTO

On December 8, 2025, Arsaga Partners, a company based in Shibuya, Tokyo, aimed at promoting digital transformation (DX), hosted a special lecture for students at the Japanese Economic University. The lecture was delivered by the company's Chairman and CTO, Taiki Omata.

Emphasizing Decision-Making Skills

Omata opened his lecture by discussing the increasing value of decision-making skills in today’s work environment. He explained that with the accelerated development in DX areas—such as generative AI, data analytics, robotics, and SaaS implementation—proper decision-making is crucial. In an industry where options abound, the ability to analyze situations and choose the best course of action while taking responsibility has become paramount.

Omata stated:
"In the realm of DX, there are generally two roles: creators and sellers. Regardless of the role, those who can make decisions from the available choices are the ones who will succeed."

He categorized DX-related careers into two main areas:
1. Creation side (engineers, data analysts, product developers)
2. Selling side (sales, marketing, consulting, evangelism)

He stressed that the real asset in business is not just knowledge or technique but the ability to navigate risks and make informed decisions that significantly impact outcomes.

The Era of AI and Trust as a Differentiator

The latter part of the lecture shifted focus to the changes in work caused by AI advancements. Omata pointed out that merely possessing knowledge is no longer sufficient in the workforce. In the United States, many underqualified consultants are facing layoffs due to this shift, a trend that is expected to affect Japan similarly in the near future.

He articulated the modern perspective on employment:
"While AI can replace tasks related to information dissemination and advice, the act of making decisions responsibly remains uniquely human. Thus, the ability to be trusted will become a pivotal differentiator in the workplace."

This emphasis on trust entails being accountable for one’s outcomes and being reliable over time, cultivating a strong reputational asset that supports one's career development.

Career Paths: Focus on Continuity Over Passion

Engaging with the real concerns of students, Omata tackled the theme of aligning personal interests with professional paths. He shared insights from his journey through corporate training, startup initiatives, and entrepreneurship.

His crucial message to the audience was:
"It's no longer about being right because you're at a major corporation or a startup. If something doesn’t feel right, you can change it. What’s essential is to feel necessary in society."

He also added:
"Passions can evolve, but what contributes real value are the things that you can persist in doing. Your true talents emerge when you can combine what you love, what you excel at, and what you are dedicated to."

The students were engaged, often nodding and discussing amongst themselves as Omata spoke, reflecting on their own possibilities.

Summary

The special lecture was a pivotal moment for students to reconsider their careers in the context of an evolving digital landscape. The core messages of decision-making, accountability, and the cultivation of trust are essential skills that will continue to be relevant regardless of technological advancements.

Arsaga Partners remains committed to fostering future talents who can create value in the digital society through partnerships with educational institutions and communities. The hope is that this encounter and the discussions held will empower each student as they ponder their future choices with confidence.
