In a remarkable collaboration between Lumine Associates and Tokyo Design School, the K-vision initiative has unveiled its third round of award-winning works. This project was born out of a partnership aimed at fostering creativity among students who are keen to break into the design world. The winning projects were showcased at the digital signage located at the southeast exit of JR Shinjuku Station, aptly named K-vision.

On Monday, December 8th, at Lumine Zero in Shibuya, the winners were ceremoniously announced and celebrated, marking a significant moment for all involved. The chosen creations are scheduled to be broadcasted on K-vision for a duration of one year, providing the students with a unique platform to exhibit their talents.

Setting the Theme: A Screen to Connect with People


This year’s theme, “A Screen that Supports People,” was designed with the aim of making K-vision a relatable digital touchpoint for the bustling foot traffic around Shinjuku Station. The selection process evaluated how well each student interpreted this theme, as well as their understanding of K-vision's unique characteristics, which emphasize attracting human attention through engaging and visually compelling content.

Luminescence’s president, Seiji Bunno, highlighted the importance of merging corporate needs with student creativity. The contest criteria took into account three critical perspectives: 1) the ability to articulate and embody the theme, 2) a creative perspective that showcases K-vision’s qualities, and 3) a business viewpoint that enhances the value of both the content and the advertising medium.

The K-vision experience is notable for being visually interactive and engaging. High placed installations allow for enticing ads that are seen at an inviting eye level, fostering engagement with passersby while facilitating two-way interactions through elements like QR codes.

Award-Winning Works: A Peek into Creativity


Three awards were presented this year: the prestigious K-vision Grand Prize, the NEWoMan Shinjuku Store Prize, and the Visual Design Award. All are designed to recognize outstanding talents among the students of Tokyo Design School.

K-vision Grand Prize Winner: Ayana Yasumiba


Ayana Yasumiba expressed joy and astonishment at being awarded the Grand Prize. Her concept centers on the idea of “Connecting People Through Digital Media.” Through her visuals featuring fun elements like toasting with champagne glasses, she aimed to evoke feelings of warmth and connection. Judge Seiji Bunno lauded her presentation’s beauty and powerful interpretation of the theme, foreseeing her work providing calmness to the hectic atmosphere of Shinjuku.

NEWoMan Shinjuku Store Prize Winner: Seira Sato


Seira Sato was thrilled to feature her cat in a project focused on garnering attention amidst the rush of Shinjuku life. Her approach captivated judges, showcasing an innovative take where the cat engages viewers. Store manager Daigo praised the uniqueness of Sato’s perspective, emphasizing its alignment with the store’s vision of drawing searchers towards greater engagement.

Visual Design Award Winner: Kotaro Ikeda


Kotaro Ikeda found immense pride in receiving the Visual Design Award, highlighting the intricacy of color and structure in his work. He hopes that viewers can feel a sense of solace when encountering his serene visuals. Judge comments focused on how sound choice and rich visual textures contribute to the artwork's impact.

K-vision’s Future: Bridging Generations and Creative Endeavors


The Tokyo Design School stands committed to nurturing creativity through hands-on learning experiences. They aim to connect the new generation of creators with the vibrant urban landscape. K-vision continues to evolve as a gateway for emerging designers to present their work, thus enhancing the cultural fabric of the area.

Located conveniently at the southeast exit of JR Shinjuku Station, K-vision’s 120-inch LED screen broadcasts captivating images from 9 AM to 11 PM. It serves not only as an advertising platform but also as a visual dialogue that engages the public and cultivates interest in creative industries.
