Gloria Reuben to Be Recognized for Advocacy Work at 2025 Research in Action Awards

Gloria Reuben Honored at the 2025 Research in Action Awards

The Treatment Action Group (TAG) is excited to announce that on October 20, 2025, the award-winning actress, author, and advocate Gloria Reuben will be recognized for her remarkable contributions at the 2025 Research in Action Awards (RIAA). This prestigious event will take place at the historic Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City.

At this celebration, TAG will also honor other influential figures in the field. This includes Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, who was appointed as the NIAID Director in September 2023, and Richard Lynn, a notable TAG Board Member and philanthropist. Their collective work epitomizes the dedication of TAG to public health and advocacy.

Gloria Reuben gained fame for her role as Jeanie Boulet on the acclaimed television series ER. Her character was instrumental in raising awareness about HIV at a time when it was viewed primarily as a death sentence. Reuben partnered with producers to ensure that Jeanie did not succumb to AIDS, marking her as the first character on a primetime network drama to live with HIV and survive.

“I am honored to be recognized for my work as Jeanie Boulet,” said Reuben. “That role was a pivotal moment in not only my career but in changing narratives around HIV in media. It demonstrated that with advancements in treatment, individuals can live fulfilling lives.”

The 2025 RIAA will be chaired by prominent real estate leaders Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon, who bring a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advocacy. Their support for Reuben and TAG guarantees an inspiring evening of storytelling and unity that seeks to raise $350,000 for TAG’s initiatives. “Each honoree embodies the drive and innovation at the heart of TAG’s mission,” remarked Mark Harrington, the Executive Director of TAG. “We are proud to honor their contributions in a gathering aimed at uplifting voices and fostering community engagement.”

The event will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with tickets priced at $300. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those interested in supporting TAG's mission. For further information and to purchase tickets, please visit TAG’s official website.
