Geely EX5 Launch in the UK Marks a New Era for EVs in Europe
Geely EX5 Launches in the UK
On October 23, 2025, Geely Auto rolled out its award-winning all-electric SUV, the Geely EX5, in the United Kingdom. This significant launch marks another step in Geely's commitment to sustainable mobility, as the company aims to position itself as a key player in Europe’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
Ambitious Goals for the UK Market
Geely Auto has set its sights high for the UK market, with plans to sell a whopping 100,000 vehicles annually by 2030. To support this ambitious target, the company is establishing a robust infrastructure that includes a network of 100 sales and service outlets throughout the country by 2026. This initiative will be complemented by a robust distribution and maintenance system, ensuring that every EX5 owner receives exceptional service.
Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group, expressed excitement about the UK launch, stating, "Entering the UK market marks a significant milestone in deepening Geely's European strategy and heralds a new chapter in electric mobility across Europe. We are committed to delivering innovative and sustainable products while building enduring relationships of mutual trust with our customers and partners. Geely Auto looks forward to advancing alongside the European market and co-creating the future."
Expanding European Presence
Before setting foot in the UK, Geely Auto had already established operations in 12 European countries, including Poland, Greece, and Croatia. The company aims to enhance its footprint across Europe through world-class research and development centers located in both Europe and Asia. Geely's expansion will reach key markets such as Italy, Germany, France, and Spain, with plans to roll out 15 new vehicles tailored to European consumers in the next five years. Their goal is to become a mainstream automotive brand in Europe, backed by a comprehensive network of over 1,000 sales outlets.
The UK debut of the Geely EX5 builds on the model's impressive global momentum. The EX5 is already available in 33 countries and has experienced remarkable success in various markets. In Australia, for example, the model has garnered enthusiastic reception, achieving rapid growth since its introduction in March 2025. Meanwhile, in Brazil, the EX5 dominated its segment, clinching the number one sales position for two consecutive months following its launch.
Historical Roots in the UK
Geely Auto's parent company, Geely Holding Group, has been intricately connected to the UK for nearly two decades. It began its journey in the UK in 2006 with an investment in the London Taxi Company, which has evolved into LEVC under Geely's ownership and continues to produce zero-emission taxi vehicles. Besides taxis, Geely has expanded its influence in the UK by investing in renowned British brands like Lotus and Aston Martin, fostering innovation in electrification and luxury mobility.
With the EX5 now available in the UK, Geely is not only reinforcing its commitment to electric vehicles but also setting the stage for a significant transformation in the automotive landscape of Europe. As it embarks on this journey, the company’s focus on sustainability, consumer engagement, and innovative technology positions it at forefront of the EV revolution across the continent.
