Envision Energy Expands into French Market with 120 MW Energy Storage Project

Envision Energy Ventures into French Energy Storage Market

Envision Energy, a global frontrunner in green technologies for wind turbines, energy storage, and green hydrogen solutions, has made a significant leap into the French energy sector. This strategic move comes with the announcement of a contract for a turnkey project involving 120 megawatts (MW) of energy storage capacity, equating to 240 megawatt-hours (MWh). The project, which is aimed at supporting the local energy grid, is being developed for Kallista Energy, a notable player in the European renewable energy landscape.

Located in Saleux, within the Hauts-de-France region, this project utilizes advanced Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery storage technology. The energy storage facility will incorporate Envision Energy's state-of-the-art direct current (DC) and alternative current (AC) systems, in addition to power conversion systems (PCS). These components play a crucial role in providing frequency regulation services to the French transmission system operator, RTE, thereby contributing to the stability and reliability of the electricity grid.

The commencement of construction is set for June 2025, a timeline that aligns perfectly with Envision Energy's plans for expanding its presence in France and Europe at large. Following the project's completion, the company will maintain a long-term service agreement (LTSA) spanning at least 14 years, establishing a lasting operational footprint in the region beyond the construction phase.

Henry Peng, Envision Energy's Senior Vice President and Head of Latin America and Europe, emphasized the importance of this partnership. He remarked, "France serves as a pivotal market for Envision Energy as we broaden our footprint across Europe, and our partnership with Kallista Energy signifies a key milestone in this journey. We take pride in delivering a fully integrated and turnkey energy storage solution tailored to the Saleux project." Peng also highlighted the commitment to supporting grid stability and advancing the transition towards renewable energy with safe and scalable energy solutions.

Frédéric Roche, the President of Kallista Energy, echoed the significance of the Saleux project by stating, "With the Saleux initiative, Kallista Energy adds an essential element to the energy ecosystem, facilitating the integration of more renewable energies into the grid while ensuring reliability." Roche pointed out the necessity of overcoming the misconception that electricity cannot be stored, emphasizing the importance of accelerating the deployment of renewable energy and phasing out fossil fuel reliance. He also added that Kallista Energy is pursuing additional projects similar to Saleux to continue this momentum.

The energy storage sector is rapidly evolving across Europe, and Envision Energy stands at the forefront of these advancements, providing cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Solutions (BESS) that enhance the integration of renewable energy into the power grid. Leveraging their extensive technical expertise, Envision's systems deliver vital capabilities, including grid training, cold start functionality, and auxiliary services that uphold grid stability and optimize energy distribution.

Part of the BESS initiative includes the supply of LFP battery cells sourced from AESC, a leading battery technology firm based in Japan. AESC operates a cutting-edge Gigafactory in Douai, also located in the Hauts-de-France region, which began production in June 2025. This collaboration further solidifies Envision Energy's commitment to innovative and sustainable energy solutions.

As the European market observes a substantial surge in demand for energy storage solutions, Envision Energy is prepared to meet these needs with a focus on proven design, safety, and long-term reliability. Their energy storage products are engineered to deliver dependable performance throughout their life cycle, fostering a transition towards a flexible, resilient, and net-zero energy future.

The Saleux project's successful execution will demonstrate not only Envision Energy's technical prowess but also its dedication to enhancing the renewable energy transition in France, providing a reliable template for future initiatives in the region and beyond.
