Smartee Achieves a European Milestone with Inaugural Regional Summit in Mallorca
Smartee Denti-Technology's European Summit 2026
On September 19, 2026, Smartee Denti-Technology successfully hosted the inaugural Smartee European Summit 2026 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. This two-day event marked the first large-scale academic gathering for Smartee outside China, showcasing advancements and innovations in orthodontics.
A Gathering of Experts
Bringing together nearly 300 orthodontic professionals and medical experts from 27 countries, the summit facilitated a rich exchange of knowledge and expertise. The discussions included significant topics such as GS mandibular repositioning technology, management of complex malocclusions, early orthodontic treatments, sleep dentistry, and airway management. The event also served as the international launch platform for two new products: Smartee SA/SA Plus and Smartee AG KIDS.
Open remarks were made by Junfeng Yao, founder and CEO of Smartee, who elaborated on how the company is integrating artificial intelligence into its products and clinical workflows, aiming to enhance clinical support efficiency.
First Day Highlights
The first day centered on GS mandibular repositioning technology, focusing on its clinical application in the management of malocclusions that involve discrepancies in mandibular position. Leading experts shared their insights, including Professor Gang Shen of Taikang ByBo Dental, who provided an overview of the development and clinical philosophy underlying the GS system. He, along with Dr. Xingxing Wang, discussed the three-dimensional clinical logic and application of mandibular repositioning.
A range of speakers, including Professor Thomas Felkai from Semmelweis University and Dr. Katarzyna Łoza-Sołtyk from the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics, contributed to a comprehensive dialogue surrounding diagnosis, treatment goals, and the assessment of mandibular position for various malocclusion types.
Professor Shen emphasized the critical nature of proper patient selection for mandibular repositioning, stating, "The position of the mandible must be evaluated in sagittal, vertical, and transverse dimensions. The first step is to identify abnormal mandibular positioning and then assess the direction of the discrepancy from a three-dimensional perspective." He highlighted that mandibular repositioning could serve as an alternative clinical approach for select adult patients with class II malocclusions.
Expanding the Focus
The second day extended discussions to early orthodontic treatment and sleep dentistry management for growing patients and obstructive sleep apnea. Discussions covered treatment timings, interceptive treatment, craniofacial growth, airway assessments, and orofacial myofunctional therapy.
Prominent speakers such as Dr. Vicente Torres from the University of Valencia and Dr. Isabel Vélez Lagune discussed broader patient assessment approaches that integrate craniofacial growth stage, respiratory patterns, and myofunctional considerations alongside dental and occlusal factors.
Furthermore, the afternoon sessions on sleep dentistry addressed the scientific evidence about sleep dentistry and the use of clear aligner technology in sleep-related treatments. Key contributors included Professor Antonio Gracco and Dr. Yue Weng Cheu from Singapore, who emphasized the importance of identifying potential risk indicators during routine evaluations and appropriate referrals to multidisciplinary teams for high-risk children.
Product Launch and Future Directions
The summit also officially launched two innovative product systems: Smartee SA/SA Plus, targeting primary snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, and Smartee AG KIDS, designed for patients aged 3 to 16 years to support craniofacial growth management across multiple dimensions.
Participants recognized the clinical relevance of the summit, which provided a platform for case-based learning and interdisciplinary discussion. Garie Zhou, Smartee's International Business Director, expressed commitment to fostering international academic exchange, professional training, and ongoing clinical research, particularly in GS technology, early orthodontics, and sleep dentistry.
The success of this inaugural meeting lays the groundwork for Smartee’s continued expansion of its international academic platform, with Rome marked as the next European Summit destination in 2027. This initiative not only emphasizes product and technology presentation but extends to broader clinical discourse across various disciplines, paving the way for advancements in orthodontic practice globally.
