Smartee Denti-Technology Makes European Debut at Mallorca Summit
Smartee Denti-Technology Hosts the European Summit 2026
On September 19, 2026, Smartee Denti-Technology concluded its inaugural European summit in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. This significant event marked the company's first large-scale academic conference held outside of China, bringing together nearly 300 orthodontic specialists and practitioners from 27 different countries. The summit focused on various crucial topics, including the GS technology for mandibular repositioning, management of complex malocclusions, early orthodontic treatment, sleep dentistry, and respiratory care, as well as the international launch of two new products - Smartee SA/SA Plus and Smartee AG KIDS.
The summit commenced with Junfeng Yao, the founder and CEO of Smartee, discussing the company’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligence in its products and processes. This integration aims to improve clinical support for medical professionals. Over the course of this two-day event, experts from Europe and Asia delivered clinical case presentations highlighting the latest research developments and therapeutic prospects in orthodontics.
Day One: Focus on Mandibular Repositioning Technology
The first day zeroed in on the GS technology for mandibular repositioning and its clinical application for managing malocclusions linked to mandibular positioning anomalies. Professor Gang Shen from Taikang ByBo Dental, who is also the scientific director of GS R&D at Smartee, opened the scientific program by elaborating on the clinical philosophy and development of the GS system. Alongside Dr. Xingxing Wang, Smartee's chief clinical medical officer, he delved into the clinical fundamentals and three-dimensional applications of mandibular repositioning.
The scientific agenda welcomed renowned speakers like Professor Thomas Felkai from Semmelweis University in Hungary and Dr. Katarzyna Łoza-Sołtyk, the president of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics. They guided the audience through clinical cases that addressed diagnostic strategies, therapeutic objectives, mandibular positioning assessment, and treatment strategies for different types of malocclusions, including asymmetric Class II malocclusion and adult Class II treatment. Professor Shen emphasized that a thorough patient selection is crucial for successful mandibular repositioning, stating, "The mandibular position must be evaluated in sagittal, vertical, and transversal planes".
Day Two: Early Orthodontic Treatment and Sleep Dentistry
The second day broadened the discourse to early orthodontic treatment and sleep dentistry, focusing on managing growing patients as well as obstructive sleep apnea and respiratory care. Sessions on early orthodontics covered treatment timing, interceptive treatments, craniofacial growth, airway evaluations, and orofacial myofunctional therapy — encompassing biological principles, clinical decision-making, and therapeutic approaches.
Notable presenters included Professor Shen, Dr. Vicente Torres from Valencia University, and Professor Jane Shi, an expert in myofunctional orofacial therapy, who emphasized the need to evaluate airway patterns and myofunctional aspects in developing orthodontic treatment plans. They highlighted signs that may necessitate a more comprehensive multidisciplinary examination depending on the patient's needs.
The afternoon sessions delved into sleep dentistry and airway management, featuring presentations from experts like Professor Antonio Gracco from the University of Padua and Dr. Francesca Milano. Their discussions addressed scientific data in sleep dentistry, the use of transparent aligner technology in sleep-related care, and the correlation between pediatric airway issues and craniofacial development. Dr. Yue Weng Cheu also highlighted the importance of identifying potential risk indicators during routine clinical examinations.
Launch of New Products: SA/SA Plus and AG KIDS
The summit also served as an international launch platform for two new Smartee product lines: Smartee SA/SA Plus and Smartee AG KIDS. The SA/SA Plus system addresses clinical needs related to primary snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Integrating a locking mechanism into the transparent splint technology, this system offers a solution for patients needing both treatment for snoring and orthodontic care.
In contrast, Smartee AG KIDS aims to direct craniofacial growth for patients aged 3 to 16 years. This system promotes management in sagittal, vertical, and transversal dimensions, in conjunction with orofacial myofunctional training appliances, thus providing practitioners with an integrated approach to managing growth and dental-facial development.
A New Era for International Academic Exchange
The conclusion of the scientific sessions revealed the clinical relevance of the program, merging case-based learning with interdisciplinary discussions. Participants voiced appreciation for the opportunity to connect with orthodontists and clinicians adopting diverse therapeutic approaches worldwide. Garie Zhou, Smartee's Director of International Operations, announced the company’s commitment to continuing its efforts in fostering international academic exchanges and clinical research across various fields like GS technology, early orthodontics, and sleep dentistry. With Rome selected as the next European summit location in 2027, Smartee looks forward to enhancing international collaboration and clinical experience sharing.
This momentous event in Mallorca represents a significant milestone in Smartee's journey, evolving from merely showcasing its products and technologies to engaging in a broader clinical discourse that encompasses multiple disciplines, thus paving the way for future growth in the orthodontics field.
