Changan Aims to Enter Ten European Markets by the End of 2025

Changan Automobile is setting its sights high for the upcoming years, with ambitions to expand into ten European countries by the end of 2025. The strategic plan was unveiled during the 2025 Chongqing International Auto Exhibition, where representatives from European media gathered to witness Changan's latest developments. The event, held on June 7, served as a platform for showcasing the advanced technology and innovative designs that Changan has developed and is poised to offer to the European market.

During the event, European journalists had the opportunity to tour Changan's Intelligent Digital Factory in Chongqing. The state-of-the-art facility demonstrated robotic precision that left many visitors, including Polish influencer Grzegorz Konieczny and Italian vlogger Michele Ponte, impressed by the level of automation. Ponte highlighted the comfort of Changan's vehicles during a test drive, expressing confidence that they could appeal to American consumers as well.

In discussions with Changan's leadership, including Chairman Chu Huazhong and two Executive Vice Presidents, Li Mingchai and Wang Xiaofei, the company's deep respect for the European market was evident. Chu emphasized that Europe is currently one of Changan's most significant markets and outlined a three-pronged strategy for their product and expansion goals for 2025. Key vehicles such as the CHANGAN DEEPAL S07 and S05 are expected to take center stage in this ambitious plan.

Changan plans to begin its European journey in Norway, gradually moving into other key markets with a goal of establishing a presence in ten countries and collaborating with nearly 200 retailers. The focus will not merely be on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) but also on developing plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) to cater to a wider array of consumer preferences across Europe. The anticipated entry of these models into the European market is set for the third quarter of 2025.

European journalists have expressed a mix of skepticism and cautious optimism regarding Changan's future in the region. German journalist Walther Wuttke noted the importance of a robust dealer network and the need for persistence while recognizing the strong design and quality associated with the Changan brand. Meanwhile, Greek importer Aggelos Stefanopoulos classified Changan's electric vehicles as groundbreaking, applauding their comfort and alignment with European tastes. Michael Georgiadis, CEO of GOCAR.gr and GOCAR Magazine, praised the design, technical execution, and value of Changan cars, citing an increasing awareness and trust in Chinese engineering among European consumers.

As Changan embarks on this significant expansion, much will hinge on its ability to adapt and compete in a competitive automotive landscape that values design, technology, and efficiency. The firm's efforts could potentially set a new standard for Chinese car manufacturers looking to capture a share of the European market, and their approach may serve as a blueprint for future international endeavors in the automotive sector.
